Emergency SOS is a life-saving feature that could become a boon when you are in crisis. As part of continuous enhancements, Samsung’s June 2023 update permanently enabled the Emergency SOS toggle on select Galaxy devices such as the Galaxy S23 series.

Over the past few weeks, Samsung rolled out June 2023 update to various flagship Galaxy devices in South Korea. The changelog specifically mentioned this SOS feature-related change, while, it’s not the exact case of the international variants.

Post-installing June 2023 update, Samsung permanently enabled the Emergency SOS toggle on the Galaxy S23 series. The update changelog didn’t have any quote regarding this change but was spotted by users while navigating across the user interface.

Usually, most of the users don’t care about the Emergency SOS feature. Due to accidental side key press 3/5 times, the phone triggers an Emergency call for help, which can be ended before connecting. To sort it out, there’s a feature that enables a specific period of the countdown to initiate SOS call.

To get rid of accidental SOS calls, Galaxy smartphone users were able to disable the feature from System Settings. However, the latest June update appears to be making meaningful changes as accidentally pressing the side key 5 times isn’t easy.

Through System Settings >> Safety and emergency section, check whether your Samsung phone made this change or not.
