Samsung Electronics’ Device Solutions (DS) Division recently dismissed Engineer A on the grounds of allegations of leaking documents containing core semiconductor technology and has requested an investigation by the national authorities in Korea.

As the global competition for semiconductor supremacy intensifies, this is the second incident that the company has experienced once again. Samsung reportedly caught Engineer A sending dozens of important documents, including core semiconductor technology, to a personal external email account.

It’s also reported that some of the data were then forwarded for secondary storage to another external email account. In an unusual move related to this incident, Samsung is reported to have posted a comprehensive notice on its internal network.

The notice included the current status of penalties for previous leakage incidents, the dismissal of Engineer A, and the request for an investigation. This action is seen as an attempt to raise awareness about the gravity of technology leakage.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 may bring AI atrial fibrillation monitor

Samsung Galaxy Watch 6

Samsung seems to be developing AI-powered atrial fibrillation monitoring for Galaxy Watch 7. A new patent application reveals that the company is working on a feature, which will use artificial intelligence for atrial fibrillation monitoring.

A new patent discloses that Samsung is developing AI-accurate AFib (Atrial Fibrillation) monitoring, probably for the Galaxy Watch 7. The current state of the feature’s development doesn’t authenticate that the Galaxy Watch 7 will be equipped with it.

If the Galaxy Watch 7 misses out on this life-saving feature, Samsung will surely introduce it with future wearables. With the Generative AI integrated, this advanced smartwatch feature could translate photoplethysmograph (PPG) signals into ECG signals for accurate results.

Phonearena’s report highlights that AFib is a very dangerous condition, which causes irregular and rapid heartbeats. As disclosed by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) earlier, AFib hospitalizes over 400,000 people in the US yearly.

Apart from this, the Galaxy Watch 7 is expected to be equipped with non-invasive blood glucose monitoring. If the South Korean tech giant manages to gain approval for this feature, it will significantly boost the sales of Galaxy Watch 7 smartwatches.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 to feature S24 Ultra-inspired screen design

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Cover Screen Design

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 cover display design appears to be inspired by Galaxy S24 Ultra. Samsung insider posted a video of the alleged Galaxy Z Fold 6 screen glass, showcasing a squarish design with ditched rounded corners.

IceUniverse leaked out the cover screen design of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 through tempered film. The third-party accessory indicates the S24 Ultra screen design could be seen in Samsung’s next foldable phone.

The tempered film lacks inner rounded corners seen in the previous foldables by Samsung. It means the display visibility area will be increased to reach the squarish form, introducing an enhanced design language.

Bezels surrounding the screen might also go thinner, thanks to generational enhancements. The screen ratio is also getting improved as part of offering a better user experience and making the cover screen even more user-centric.

Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy Z Fold 6 on July 10 in Paris. The Galaxy Z Flip 6 will also join the launch at Unpacked in July. The company is also developing an Ultra Fold, which hasn’t appeared on benchmarks so far.

The Galaxy Z Fold 6 will be equipped with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy chip. It’s rumored that the Exynos 2400 chip would be shipped with Galaxy Z Flip 6 in some regions outside the United States.
