Samsung joins AI-RAN Alliance to promote future of 6G innovation

Samsung as a founding member has recently joined the AI-RAN Alliance intending to promote the future of 6G innovation through its heritage and reputation in AI and wireless communications technology. Notably, the AI-RAN Alliance is an organization which is officially announced today at MWC 2024.

Going toward the details, the AI-RAN Alliance will combine AI and wireless communication for applications in various fields, create an ecosystem, and ultimately expand opportunities for new businesses. It has established three working groups that carry out technical research: AI for RAN, AI and RAN, and AI on RAN.

AI for RAN will focus on utilizing AI/ML and improve the spectrum, cost, and energy efficiency. AI and RAN will focus on network convergence technology for efficient resource management and infrastructure utilization. While the AI on RAN will focus on discovering new AI applications and services in wireless networks.

However, the results of these activities such as technical reports and white papers are expected to greatly contribute to the standardization and commercialization of 6G in the future. This includes the discovery of new services, technical requirements and specifications.

Samsung is also planning to use this alliance activity to lead technological convergence and service innovation. The Korean tech giant is committed to leading the 6G ecosystem with its industry-leading position in AI and wireless communication solutions, such as semiconductors, AI hardware and software technologies, wireless communication systems, and terminals.

Notably, a total of eleven organizations including Samsung, Arm, Ericsson, Microsoft, Nokia, NVIDIA, SoftBank and Northeastern University are participating as founding members in AI-RAN Alliance. This new alliance will collaborate on the development of innovative technologies, as well as promoting the 6G era.

May 2024 security update rolling out to Galaxy Z Flip 4

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 May 2024 update

Samsung has pushed the May 2024 security update for the Galaxy Z Flip 4 smartphone in India. Users can identify the latest update through One UI build version F721BXXS7FXE4.

This update enhances the security and stability of the system by installing the latest Android security patch. It includes fixes for 45 vulnerabilities, which comprise 33 from Google and 12 that are specific to Samsung, including 3 critical and 26 high-level CVEs.

The package size of this update is around 400MB file and requires the smartphone’s software to be up to date before installation.

Following the recent One UI 6.1 update, which introduced new features and improvements, this security patch further optimizes the device’s performance.

Users of the Galaxy Z Flip 4 smartphone can check for the May 2024 update by going to the device’s settings, selecting ‘Software update’, and then ‘Download and Install’. It is recommended to install the update as soon as it is available to ensure the device remains secure and functions efficiently. Samsung plans to release this update in other countries soon.

After the Galaxy A series, Samsung has begun releasing One UI 6.1 update for a Galaxy F series smartphone – the Galaxy F54. The new update is rolling out in India and will soon expand to more countries.

One UI 6.1 update for the Samsung Galaxy F54 smartphone can be identified through the One UI build version E546BXXU4CXDC. Users will have to download a 2.1GB package to install the update.

The fresh update includes an April 2024 security patch to improve system security and stability for a better user experience. In addition, it updates several stock apps to the latest available version.

One UI 6.1 update comes with more powerful features for creating, editing, and viewing pictures and videos. Users can easily enhance their pictures with AI recommendations, copy and paste from one picture to another, and more. Additionally, the improved Gallery search makes finding the right pictures easier.

In addition, the update adds new features to Calendar, Widgets, Lock screen, Security, Clock, and more apps to provide a seamless and intuitive experience. However, it does not include Galaxy AI features.

If you are using a Galaxy F54 smartphone in India, then install the major update now to enjoy new features and enhancements. To install the update, open Settings >> Software Updates >> Download and install.

Samsung unveils Galaxy Book 4 Edge with new Snapdragon X Elite chips

Samsung officially launched the Galaxy Book 4 Edge laptop that packs Snapdragon X chips. Earlier this year, the company launched the Galaxy Book 4 series laptops, with the Edge variant joining as the latest entry.

While the Samsung Galaxy Book 4 is equipped with Intel chipsets, the new Book 4 Edge is fueled with Snapdragon X Elite (3.4GHz and 3.8GHz) processors. The company launched Galaxy Book 4 Edge in three tiers, with prices starting at $1,349. Interestingly, all variants bring 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.

The Book 4 Edge (base model) features a 14-inch AMOLED screen and Snapdragon X Elite starting at $1,349. Next up is a 16-inch option with Plus for $1,449. If you want the 3.8GHz Snapdragon X Elite, you have to opt for the 16-inch model, which costs $1,749.

The 14-inch and 16-inch size options come with an enhanced refined finish for a sleek, premium feel, created from a wide variety of recycled materials, including plastics, glass and aluminum.

Samsung also announced that the Galaxy Book 4 Edge will be available in France, Germany, Italy, Korea, Spain, the UK and the US starting June 18, 2024. You will see a great collaboration with Microsoft services including a dedicated key to trigger Copilot.
