Samsung to let Galaxy S24 users disable Super HDR on Instagram

Published

One UI 6.1 Enhanced Motion photo feature

Samsung will further enhance the Galaxy S24 series’ Super HDR on Instagram. The company is working to bring a “disable” toggle to Super HDR on Instagram. It will address the concern raised by some consumers that they don’t like Super HDR to remain turned on always.

The report says that Samsung is considering bringing a new feature to the Galaxy S24 series, allowing users to disable Super HDR on Instagram. Some people prefer viewing Instagram photos and videos in SDR rather than Super HDR.

Simply put, Samsung will let you disable the sudden screen brightness increase that occurs on select content. You may have noticed that some Reels appear with the fullest screen brightness and vibrant colors. This happens because the content is uploaded in Ultra/Super HDR format.

Super HDR radically increases the brightness, color volume, and wider dynamic range when displayed. Since the Super HDR feature is slated to enhance content viewing on the latest flagships, consumers must have the ability to enable or disable it.

Apple already applied a toggle, letting users enable or disable the high dynamic range. As there are many threads in the community forum citing the demand for a toggle to disable, Samsung has acknowledged the requirement and a possible rollout may take place soon.

Here’s the statement:

In relation to the Super HDR operation within the Instagram app that you inquired about, we are collaborating with Instagram to provide a Super HDR experience for the Galaxy S24 and provide it in a way that operates by default in Feed.

We are currently discussing the Super HDR on/off feature in the social app you suggested, so that it can be reviewed in the most positive way possible by collecting opinions from various users.
