Samsung to reap rewards with Wide foldable as Huawei succeeds
Huawei Pura X Max has been quietly putting up numbers in China since its late April debut, and the early data from Counterpoint tells a story that Samsung wide foldable makers are almost certainly reading very carefully right now.
In its first five weeks on shelves, the wide book-type foldable outsold the Mate X7 by 29%, beat the Pura X by 49%, and left the Nova Flip S looking embarrassed at 296% behind. That said, Huawei just handed Samsung a gift.
Samsung has the manufacturing scale, the software ecosystem, and the Galaxy brand recognition to move fast on wide foldables if the market data holds.
Counterpoint’s report suggests wide foldables are working. As AI workflows push users toward video, document work, and multi-app productivity on mobile, a wider inner display stops being a novelty and starts being the point.
The Huawei Pura X Max wide foldable sports a 5.4-inch cover display and a 7.7-inch inner screen. Not quite a tablet, not a conventional phone; it lands in the space between, and apparently, consumers in China don’t mind that at all.
Recently, it was reported that Samsung has increased the Galaxy Z Fold 8 production target to 300,000 units for the first quarter. The company initially planned to manufacture approximately 100,000 units of the device.
“The Pura X Max is important because it shows that wide foldables are not just a design experiment. The early sales indicate that consumers are starting to find more practical uses for a wider inner display, especially for video, reading, document viewing, AI-assisted creation and multi-app tasks. For foldables, the next stage of competition will be less about whether the device folds and more about whether the larger screen creates daily value.”

Samsung gives Galaxy S26 Ultra an Apple-style marketing treatment
Apple is often late in adopting the latest features that trend, following their debut, but it has one of the most clever marketing teams for campaigns. Samsung has a new Galaxy S26 Ultra ad, which brings Apple Safari vibes.
Samsung Brazil has come up with a new Galaxy S26 Ultra ad, which highlights the Privacy aspect Apple has been doing for years.
The feature in focus is Privacy Display of the S26 Ultra, which safeguards the on-screen content from unwanted watchers. The company has also shed light on its customizable nature, offering tools for certain adjustments.
Privacy display is backed by Flex Magic Pixel OLED technology. Samsung has linked it with software, allowing users to personalize the operation. You can darken the entire screen (at levels) or specific parts like notifications.
Apple’s privacy-focused Safari ad gained huge praise at launch. In a brand new commercial, the iPhone maker showcased how browsing on Android isn’t private to directly promote its Safari browser as a private internet browser.
Safari’s capability of private browsing sounds minor, but it matters. People run queries on the web many times through an internet browser. Browsing on Android has a long history of being accused of being “not really private.”
Galaxy S26 Ultra’s latest advertisement shows the feeling of being spied on almost everywhere outdoors. The commercial makes use of giant eyeballs rather than actual humans, just like Apple did with flying CCTV cameras.
Samsung has finally entered Apple’s marketing territory. The company is advertising segments that actually matter, rather than way too professional showcases. You can watch the latest ad posted by Samsung Brazil below:

Samsung did it again – the company is maintaining the leadership position for another year. According to market research firm Omdia (via @SemiconductorsX), Samsung Electronics secured the top spot in the global TV market for the first quarter of 2026, with a revenue-based market share of 31.3%.
This marks a 1.3% point increase from the same period last year and keeps the company well ahead of its closest competitors, more than double the share of the runner-up.
The South Korean tech giant continues to dominate the premium segment, holding 53.4% of the market for TVs priced over $2,500 and 50.1% for those above $1,500. Samsung also leads in large-screen categories, with strong shares in 75-inch (31.6%) and 80-inch+ models (29.7%).

Samsung and MediaTek set new benchmark for 5G uplink performance
MediaTek and Samsung have achieved a major breakthrough in 5G technology by successfully testing a new way to increase upload speeds. These companies worked together to complete the industry’s first 3Tx 5-layer uplink test. It shows how future 5G networks can become faster and more efficient.
The test combined MediaTek’s M90 5G modem with Samsung’s advanced network solutions, including virtualized RAN (vRAN) and Massive MIMO radios. These technologies helped improve the way data is sent from smartphones and other devices to the network.
By using frequency bands at the same time, the companies reached an upload speed of 670 Mbps. This is a significant achievement because upload speed is important for many everyday activities, and faster uploads make it easier to share anything without interruption.
The new setup also improves network efficiency by allowing more data to be transferred at once. It means users can enjoy smoother and more reliable connections, even when many people are using the network at the same time.
As demand for cloud services, online collaboration, and high-quality content continues to grow, faster upload speeds are becoming increasingly important. This collaboration achievement by MediaTek and Samsung demonstrates how 5G technology is continuing to evolve and improve.
Dongwoo Lee, Head of Technology Solution Group, Networks Business at Samsung Electronics, said:
“By achieving another industry-first milestone in collaboration with MediaTek, Samsung continues to set the pace for enhanced uplink performance through advanced configurations. This joint test demonstrates exceptional speeds that translate into unparalleled user experiences and reliable, constant connectivity. These gains have the potential to revolutionize industries and consumer usage alike.”

Samsung Members Star 2026 could land you at Galaxy Z Fold 8 Unpacked
Samsung Members Star 2026 recruitment drive is live across India, running from May 18 to June 5. The company isn’t just running a loyalty program, but it’s handing out golden tickets.
If you think this is just about earning a badge inside an app, you’ve been sleeping on what this program actually delivers. Past Samsung Members Stars have attended Galaxy Unpacked events in San Francisco, Seoul, and Paris.
Seasoned Samsung Members Stars don’t watch the event livestream; they attend in person. That’s the gap between scrolling X reactions and standing in the room when Samsung pulls the curtain back on its next foldable.
The application process is straightforward. Register, complete assigned missions by posting on the Samsung Members Community, then submit your post links. One sample mission involves exploring Samsung Health’s “Find Care” feature.
- Applications close June 5, 2026.
Complete the missions
For every mission:
- Create a Samsung Members Community post
- Tap the Share icon and copy the post link
- Submit the link on the “Complete the Missions” page
The task isn’t exactly hard, but the quality of your engagement matters. Samsung is looking for people who can actually write, shoot, explain, and connect. Not just enthusiasts who tap Like on every Galaxy post.
Samsung Members Star perks include:
- Hands-on access to devices before retail launch
- Exclusive merchandise
- Direct contact with Samsung leaders
The next Galaxy Z Fold 8 Unpacked event will have someone in that audience from India. It probably won’t be you, but it could be.
