Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra hits 2.55 Million sales in launch month
Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Ultra has started strong, with sales flagged at 2.55 million units in its first launch month, as per Hana Securities. That number anchors the Galaxy S25 series, which racked up 4.56 million units total after launching on February 7.
The lineup, including the Standard model at 1.17 million and the Plus at 840,000, saw pre-sales end on February 3.
By contrast, the Galaxy S24 series sold 1.42 million units in its debut month, with the S24 Ultra making up 830,000 of those. It launched earlier, on January 31, with pre-sales closing on January 25.
The different launch months—January for S24 and February for S25—mean the raw sales gap doesn’t tell the whole story.
February’s shorter 28 days versus January’s 31, plus the timing of pre-sale and launch windows, muddy a straight comparison.
Daily averages after pre-sales offer a glimpse of 240,000 units for S24 and 180,000 for S25, but Hana Securities notes that practical sales differences in the launch month may not fully show up due to these factors.
The analysts recommend tracking the S25’s progress for a clearer picture.
Globally, Samsung moved 19.03 million units, down 3% from last year but up 15% from the previous month. Every region except India saw a year-over-year decline, with India showing growth, though exact figures weren’t specified.
The S25 series, Ultra included, got mixed reactions depending on the market. The S25 Ultra’s 2.55 million units triple the S24 Ultra’s start, and the series overall far outdid its predecessor’s first month.

Samsung expands AI memory business with NVIDIA V-NAND supply
While much of the spotlight has remained on HBM and DRAM, Samsung is now expanding its role in another fast-growing part of the AI infrastructure market by supplying more of its latest V-NAND flash memory to NVIDIA.
According to SEDaily, Samsung has significantly increased shipments of its 9th-generation V-NAND (V9) to NVIDIA while preparing mass production and commercial shipments of its 10th-generation (V10) V-NAND.
The company is also running trial production for its eleventh generation (V11) technology, which is expected to feature between 400 and 500 memory layers.
Samsung’s monthly V-NAND wafer output already exceeds 100,000 wafers, and around 60 percent of that capacity has reportedly been reassigned to V9 production.
NVIDIA is preparing to launch its Context Memory Storage (CMX) platform during the second half of the year. NAND demand for CMX deployments could grow from around 35 million TB this year to more than 100 million TB next year.
Samsung’s 10th-gen V-NAND represents more than a routine upgrade. The company has increased the stack height into the 400-layer range while delivering roughly 50% greater storage density compared to the 286-layer design used in V9.
Additionally, Samsung boss Lee is scheduled to meet Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang in San Francisco, where discussions are expected to cover broader cooperation in HBM, future NAND technologies, and potential data center projects in South Korea.

Galaxy Z Fold 8 to return Samsung to No. 1 before Apple tops 2027
Samsung may have spent Q2 chasing Huawei in the global foldable race, but the balance of power could shift much sooner than many expected. SAG reports the foldable shipments slipped 2% year over year to 3.4 million units during Q2 2026.
According to Smart Analytics Global (SAG), the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series is well-positioned to push Samsung back to the top in the coming months, even as Apple’s long-awaited foldable iPhone looms as the industry’s biggest disruption in 2027.
Huawei remained the world’s largest foldable smartphone vendor in Q2, capturing 48% of global shipments. Samsung, ranked second, posted an impressive 25% YoY shipment increase, one of the strongest performances.
Smart Analytics Global expects Samsung to reclaim the global No. 1 position during the third quarter, driven by the arrival of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8 lineup.
Motorola held onto third place despite a sharp 28% shipment decline. Honor moved in the opposite direction, recording an impressive 82% annual growth.
Looking ahead, SAG projects foldable smartphone shipments will reach around 27 million units in 2026 before growing another 38% in 2027. Samsung is expected to lead the market through the second half of 2026.
Apple’s expected foldable debut next year could become the catalyst that finally pushes foldables into the mainstream. Greater carrier support, stronger consumer awareness, and wider developer interest would likely benefit the entire category.
If the Galaxy Z Fold 8 delivers on expectations, the company could reclaim the foldable crown before Apple’s arrival changes the rules of the game.

Is Samsung bringing GAIA AI accelerator to future Exynos chips
While GAIA is currently being developed as an AI accelerator for next-generation AI PCs, the technology behind it could eventually reshape future Exynos processors across Samsung phones, tablets, and laptops.
Built on Samsung’s 4nm process, GAIA is reportedly designed as a memory-centric AI accelerator, placing compute resources closer to memory to improve efficiency during generative AI workloads.
Rather than relying solely on traditional CPU or GPU resources, the accelerator is centered around an advanced Neural Processing Unit, making it better suited for on-device AI tasks.
Is Samsung bringing GAIA AI accelerator to future Exynos chips
Samsung is already said to be supplying prototype GAIA hardware to major PC manufacturers, including Lenovo and HP, for validation. Although the initial focus is AI PCs, the technology naturally raises a bigger question: what happens if Samsung integrates the same architectural ideas into Exynos?
Exynos has often struggled to match Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chips in thermal management and sustained performance, and more recently, AI performance has become another battleground.
A more capable NPU built around GAIA’s architecture could allow future Exynos chips to execute increasingly complex AI workloads locally while reducing power consumption.
Samsung could strengthen the connection between its own semiconductor designs, Galaxy hardware, and AI software experiences. The effort also fits into Samsung’s wider semiconductor diversification strategy.
Alongside GAIA, the company has introduced enterprise products such as the PCIe 6.0-based PM1763 SSD, aimed at removing storage bottlenecks in AI infrastructure.
For Galaxy users, none of this guarantees that the next Exynos chip will suddenly outperform every rival. Still, GAIA signals that Samsung is investing in the building blocks required to make Exynos more competitive in an AI-first era.

Samsung releases 19th Galaxy Z Fold 8 teaser
Samsung keeps teasing the Galaxy Z Fold 8 even in its 19th teaser. Since the day the first teaser was dropped, the company has released nearly 22 titles, with just three belonging to the Galaxy Watch 9 smartwatch.
Galaxy Z Fold 8 comes with a 4:3 aspect ratio, which is entirely different from previous foldable phones. The wide screen approach offers a more practical cover screen, while the unfolded experience is like a mini tablet.
This is Samsung’s answer to Apple’s first foldable iPhone device. The potential unveiling is likely to happen in September 2026. However, the actual sales could take some time to start, probably until the end of the year.
Samsung releases 19th Galaxy Z Fold 8 teaser
In particular, Samsung’s latest teaser also spotlights the “new shape.” The clip highlights snapshots of a journey to London where the Unpacked will be held.
One detail that caught my attention is the use of a passport for the first time. The teaser begins with footage of a showcase of the passport from the window of the flight.
Passport is what that was primarily used to convey the expected design and shape of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 redesign. From early rumors, the company’s new foldable smartphone approach was connected to a passport.
Moving ahead, the teaser shows more cards that share the shape with the new foldable phone. Similar to previously released teasers, the latest one also ends with a gradient hands-on picture highlighting “New shape. New joy.”

Samsung starts shipping VESA True Black 1400 displays for OLED laptops
Samsung Display has officially started shipping laptop OLED panels that meet the new VESA DisplayHDR True Black 1400 certification.
VESA DisplayHDR True Black 1400 is the newest certification tier for OLED displays. It raises the brightness bar while maintaining OLED’s defining strength: exceptionally deep black levels.
For laptop buyers, creators, and professionals, this means brighter HDR content, improved visibility in challenging lighting conditions, and potentially longer-lasting OLED screens without sacrificing the perfect black levels.
To qualify, an OLED display must deliver:
- Peak brightness of 1,400 nits at a 10% On Pixel Ratio (OPR)
- Black levels of 0.0005 nits or lower
- Improved HDR performance while preserving OLED contrast
The new certification increases the peak brightness requirement by roughly 40% over the previous True Black 1000 standard.
Tandem OLED architecture
The new panel stacks two organic emissive layers rather than relying on a single light-emitting layer. This approach has become one of the industry’s most important upgrades because it improves efficiency.
Samsung says the dual-layer design allows the display to:
- Reach up to 1600 nits peak brightness at the panel level
- Reduce stress on each emissive layer
- Deliver more than twice the lifespan of conventional single-stack OLED panels
- Improve HDR performance without dramatically increasing power requirements
The news is that Samsung has begun supplying the new panels to multiple global PC brands. The first confirmed product is the Lenovo Yoga Pro 9i Aura Edition, which received VESA DisplayHDR True Black 1400 certification.
