Recent One UI 7.0 beta has a few hints about stable update delay

A recent One UI 7.0 beta software has brought a few new features that indicate Samsung had plans to delay the stable release before or after the Galaxy S25 unveiling due to some reasons.

Samsung released One UI 7 beta 4 for Galaxy S24 series owners after more than a month of beta 3. The changelog spotlights two new features – Log video and AI filters.

Introduced with the Galaxy S25 series, custom filters give you more control over filter properties such as strength, temperature, contrast, saturation, and more. The log video enables you to record video with its raw data including a wider dynamic range for better post-production.

The Beta 4 has confirmed that these two additions are coming for users with a stable One UI 7.0 including previous phones such as Fold 6 and Flip 6 as well as other flagship Snapdragon devices.

So, what’s the hidden message? Let’s first start by recapping the rollout timeline for test build releases.

1. One UI 7 beta 1 – December 5, 2024
2. One UI 7 beta 2 – December 16, 2024
3. One UI 7 beta 3 – January 6, 2025
4. One UI 7 Beta 4 – February 19, 2025

The difference between the first and second beta is less than two weeks, which increased to 20 days for the third beta. The fourth beta rollout took 44 days.

These four betas have added numerous features, fixed bugs, and system optimizations to improve the software experience. Still, a stable rollout is far away from the sight and the fourth beta has given us a few theories that could fit well in this scenario.

First

Samsung wants to keep the One UI 7.0 experience first to the S25 series through this month while keeping the old users at bay. It is also prioritizing this flagship’s software improvements through OTA software update.

Second

It wants to seed new S25 series features to previous-gen devices with stable release altogether. However, Samsung first needs to conclude the beta testing and the wait for the S25 series launch has kept the company hanging in the middle, which eventually increased the rollout time.

So it couldn’t confirm those features for previous devices before the S25 series’ unveiling and sale phase.

Third

Most of us were expecting Samsung to conclude its One UI 7.0 beta by the end of January or early February but it went two steps further. However, One UI 7.0 beta 4, followed by a bug fix in the US suggests that a stable rollout might be imminent.

Even at this point, calling a stable release “next” will be too much since Samsung is having a hard time configuring the stable release schedule. Also, the latest bugs and issues in beta software may disturb current plans and force Samsung to push the stable release to the next date.
