Gemini in Chrome is now available to all Android users in the US

Published

Google Chrome Gemini

Google has officially flipped the switch. Starting August 18, Gemini in Chrome is rolling out to every Android user in the US, marking the widest release yet for the company’s browser-based AI assistant.

It can summarize lengthy articles in seconds, answer questions about whatever page you have open, and pull in context from Google apps like Calendar and Keep without forcing you to jump between tabs.

There’s also Nano Banana support baked in, letting users generate and edit images right from the browser instead of switching to a separate app.

You will find the assistant through the Gemini icon that now sits in Chrome’s top toolbar, or tucked inside the three-dot overflow menu if you prefer keeping things minimal.

The bigger story here is for those paying for AI Pro or AI Ultra.

Google AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers get access to auto-browse, Gemini’s agentic feature that can handle multi-step tasks on your behalf.

Think booking event parking, updating a recurring order, or piecing together travel plans for an upcoming trip, all without you manually clicking through each step.

Google says these agentic tools are secure by design, with models trained to catch threats like prompt injection. For sensitive actions, auto browse will still pause and ask for your confirmation before completing anything.

This rollout follows the desktop version Google shipped last year, and it signals where Chrome is headed: less a passive browser, more an active assistant that works alongside you as you navigate the web.

Samsung Wallet introduces Digital Key for Volkswagen EV in Europe

Published

on

Samsung Wallet Volkswagen EV Digital Key

Starting August 18, Galaxy owners across Europe can add a Volkswagen Digital Key to their Samsung Wallet, letting compatible ID. electric vehicles be locked, unlocked, and started straight from a smartphone.

Samsung Wallet is picking up a new trick aimed squarely at drivers who are tired of fishing keys out of their pockets. The rollout covers a solid chunk of Volkswagen’s EV lineup, including the ID.Polo, ID.Cross, ID.3neo, ID.4, ID.5, ID.7, and ID.Buzz.

Naturally, there are some conditions attached:

  • Cars need to be running ID. software 6.0.1 or later
  • Built on or after April 27, 2026
  • Fitted with the “Preparation for Digital Key” package

That said, if your ID.4 rolled off the line before that window, this feature simply isn’t in the cards for you.

Samsung Wallet Digital Key will be available for compatible Volkswagen vehicles in Europe beginning August 18, 2026. Supported models include ID.Polo, ID.Cross, ID.3neo, ID.4, ID.5, ID.7 and ID.Buzz, when used with a compatible Samsung Galaxy mobile phone and vehicles running ID. software 6.0.1.

For now, the feature is live across a long list of European markets, including Germany, France, the UK, Spain, and Italy. Support spans a wide range of Galaxy devices, from the S20 series through the newer S26 lineup, along with several Z Fold, Z Flip, and A-series models.

Samsung has built in two ways to interact with the car.

There’s UWB (ultra-wideband) support for a fully hands-free experience, meaning the vehicle can sense the phone in your pocket and unlock as you approach.

Then there’s NFC, which is the more familiar tap-to-unlock method for people who’d rather have a bit more control over when the doors pop open.

Beyond just getting in and driving off, the Digital Key also handles trunk access through Remote Key Entry, which is a small but genuinely useful touch for anyone juggling groceries or luggage.

Owners can hand out Digital Key access to family members or friends directly through Samsung Wallet, complete with custom permissions, and revoke that access whenever they want.

This major Samsung Wonderland update offers better 3D wallpapers

Published

on

One UI 7 Wonderland

Samsung started rolling out a major Wonderland app update, which polishes 3D wallpapers and the editing experience. Version 1.6.22 is now live on the Galaxy Store, and Samsung users can grab it now to improve the user experience.

The headline change in this update is the improved 3D effect application for portrait photos captured with the latest camera app.

3D/motion effects and editor fixes

Samsung has also worked on stability here, which means users creating 3D wallpapers or spatial photo effects should notice smoother processing and fewer glitches during conversion.

This is a welcome tweak, especially for Galaxy S25 and S26 series users who rely on Wonderland to turn portrait shots into more dynamic, layered visuals.

Beyond the 3D improvements, Samsung has squashed a handful of nagging bugs. One fix addresses motion effect tilting, which was previously moving in the wrong direction depending on how the screen was oriented.

Anyone who uses tilt-based wallpapers will appreciate this correction, since a wallpaper reacting incorrectly to phone orientation kind of defeats the purpose.

There was an issue where layers would simply vanish if dragged outside the preview area while editing, which understandably frustrated users mid-project, which is now resolved.

Samsung has also fixed a bug where text position would shift unexpectedly when changing font style, along with a crash that occurred when users tried adding videos that weren’t supported for playback.

Here’s everything new in Wonderland 1.6.22

  • Improved 3D effect application and stability for portrait photos taken with the latest camera app
  • Fixed motion effect tilting in the wrong direction based on screen orientation
  • Fixed issue where layers disappear when dragged outside the preview in the wallpaper editor
  • Fixed text position changing when modifying style or font
  • Fixed app crash when adding unplayable videos

Samsung Wonderland updates arrive quietly through the Galaxy Store. If you’re on a compatible Galaxy device, head to the Galaxy Store app, check for updates, and Wonderland 1.6.22 should be waiting for you.

Google’s new Gboard feature could give users a faster way to add content

Published

on

Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus

Google is testing a new Gboard feature, Quick Insert, which could make it easier to add different types of content to messages. The new feature has been found in a beta version of Gboard.

Quick Insert may appear as a plus sign inside a diamond on the keyboard’s top bar. When users tap the button, they may see several options for quickly adding content. It could include emojis and stickers, images, contacts, clipboard content, voice input, and writing tools.

The image option may show recent pictures and also let users search for older images. The clipboard option could help users quickly find something they copied earlier.

The contacts option could be very useful. Users may be able to select a contact and choose information such as a phone number or email address. They could also use an “Insert all” button to add all available contact details at once.

However, Quick Insert may also make Gboard more complicated. Many of these features are already available through existing Gboard buttons. So, users may wonder if they really need another menu for the same tools.

Google is still developing Quick Insert, so the feature could change before its official release. It is also unclear whether Google will move existing tools into this new menu or keep everything as it is. For now, Quick Insert looks like a useful addition.

WhatsApp chat list may soon show photo and video previews

Published

on

WhatsApp

WhatsApp is testing a new feature for Android users that makes it easier to see the latest media shared in a chat. The new feature shows small previews of photos, videos, and stickers directly in the chat list.

Earlier, WhatsApp only showed words such as Photo, Video, or Sticker when these were the latest messages. Users had to open the chat to see what was actually shared. This could be difficult when many chats had the same type of media.

With the new feature, WhatsApp will show a small thumbnail next to the media label. For example, if someone sends a photo, users will see a small preview of that photo along with the word Photo. Videos and stickers will also have their own small previews.

This change will help users quickly identify the latest media without opening each conversation. It can be mainly useful for people who receive many photos and videos from different contacts or groups.

WhatsApp has also recently added other changes to make the chat list more useful. When a user types a message but does not send it, WhatsApp shows Draft in the chat list. This helps users remember unfinished messages.

The new media preview feature is currently being tested in WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.26.32.11. It is available only to some beta testers through the Google Play Store. WhatsApp has not yet announced when the feature will be available to everyone. The company is slowly testing it with selected users.
