Galaxy S22 July 2024 update India

Samsung is considering the introduction of Galaxy AI features in its previous Galaxy S22 series. The idea was revealed by Samsung’s MX division head Roh Tae-moon, during the company’s 55th regular shareholders’ meeting in Suwon, Gyeonggi-do.

The Galaxy S22 series may soon benefit from AI features, which are currently exclusive to the new Galaxy S24 series and the company is working to release it to other latest flagship models including Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy Z Flip 5, Galaxy Z Fold 5, and Galaxy Tab S9 in late March.

During the meeting, it was noted that while the hardware capabilities of the Galaxy S23 FE and the Galaxy S22 are largely similar, the AI update has not been extended to models preceding the Galaxy S22.

President Noh highlighted the importance of a ‘hybrid AI’ approach that combines cloud-based and on-device AI. This method is designed to optimize performance based on the hardware’s capabilities. Samsung is investing resources to overcome the challenges posed by hardware limitations and is preparing to support a comprehensive Galaxy AI experience.

Samsung Galaxy S24 July 2024 update

Google Phone will safeguard you with a scam call detection feature thanks to Gemini Nano. The company is swiftly working to fuel Android’s native dialer application with the power of the Gemini Nano AI model.

The latest APK reveals sheds light on some forthcoming changes. Google Phone app will keep you safe against scam calls with Gemini Nano-powered call detection feature. Simply put, your phone will be capable of differentiating spam and scam calls.

Dialer app providers mainly focus on spam call detection features. Beyond that, Google Phone is preparing to add an AI-powered feature to detect potential scam calls. Google’s Gemini Nano would play a key role here, indicating an on-device AI feature.

While Google Phone said to keep all processing on-device only, there’s still concern about privacy. This needs to be resolved before the features deploy on the general build. It would be interesting to see how effectively the Phone app detects scam calls.

Compared to spam calls, scam calls are tough to recognize. It has become a serious problem, which affects some of society’s most vulnerable members. Steps taken by Google are praiseworthy and things will get clear when the feature reaches public.

Back in May 2024, the US tech giant teased upgrades to Android’s dialer service. The requirement of Gemini Nano suggests that the most recent phones from Google would be eligible. The feature could be officially unveiled at next month’s Made by Google event.

Samsung Google Gemini

Apple collaborated with OpenAI to bring AI capabilities across its products. Google, which is already a close partner of Samsung, deepened its Gemini ties. The Gemini app is fully integrated into the latest Galaxy devices.

As tech titans sign strategic partnerships, there are different aspects to each. Apple and OpenAI alliance is poised to integrate Gen AI tech into Apple products and focus on user privacy. Samsung and Google collaboration is to improve the Android experience for Samsung Galaxy devices.

There’s another major difference between these partnerships. Apple gained access to OpenAI’s technology, while specifics remain undisclosed. The company also gets an observer seat on the OpenAI board for AI innovations.

On the flip side, Samsung and Google deepened their Gemini AI alliance further. Both firms are collaboratively working to establish communication channels to work together on specific projects such as Gemini Nano and Wear OS.

Apple with OpenAI can radically improve its products with AI integration. Products like iPhones could get AI and Gen AI features such as smarter assistants, improved writing tools, and personalized summaries – all keeping user privacy at the center.

Google knows Samsung’s importance in the Android landscape. The revised partnership aims to refine UX with the integration of Gemini across the OS. The changes could be availed to some older devices that feature Gemini Nano and Galaxy AI.

The Korean tech giant is continuously extending its ties with global leaders. Being the Android owner, Google is at the center whether it’s Gemini or ecosystem products. The unity will continue to harness Galaxy experiences across segments.

Apple signed a long-term partnership with OpenAI for artificial intelligence tech. It has debuted the Apple Intelligence in iOS 18, slated to come shortly. However, it’s still looking to reach an agreement with Google for Gemini AI in its products.

Samsung Bixby issues

Bixby will equip Samsung AI models slated to launch this year. At the Unpacked yesterday, Samsung’s TM Roh confirmed that a major upgrade to Bixby is coming this year. It will use Samsung’s own large language model for artificial intelligence capabilities.

Samsung first introduced the Bixby assistant in 2017. The company made gradual improvements and integrated with core Samsung services. However, it failed to be a popular alternative to Google Assistant on Galaxy.

Later, the arrival of ChatGPT and Gemini AI further widened the gap. Now, there’s a need of rapid upgrades to Galaxy’s Bixby assistant. It seems Samsung is looking at this aspect and a significant upgrade is arriving on its self-developed digital assistant.

“We’re going to advance Bixby with application of Gen AI technology,” Roh said in Korean via a translator.

Previously, there were rumors of the arrival of an upgraded Bixby Assistant. However, it’s the first time the news has been confirmed by a Samsung executive. The confirmation is pretty solid as the statement has been made by Samsung’s Mobile Chief, TM Roh.

“We are reinforcing and bringing more AI capabilities to our products,” Roh said.

Apple has recently announced Apple Assistant and upgrades to Siri Assistant. The company has partnered with OpenAI for AI features in iOS and iPhones. It seems Samsung won’t let Apple easily occupy the AI smartphone market with even minor areas.

“As consumers use more AI capabilities they can actually feel the convenience and benefits they bring. I believe strongly that these Galaxy AI, mobile AI are strong motivations and drivers for the purchase of new products.”

Yesterday, Samsung introduced new Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6. These phones run the Android 14-based One UI 6.1.1 software skin. It’s packed with advanced artificial inelligence capabilities and Generative AI features.
