WhatsApp started to roll out a new v2.24.3.17 update to Android users on the Beta channel. The release indicates that WhatsApp is working on introducing a caption that marks chats as end-to-end encrypted in a future app update.

WABetaInfo managed to access the WhatsApp feature in the latest Beta build. The screenshot displays a new caption to assist users involved in an end-to-end encrypted conversation. It is to reassure users that their private messages remain inaccessible to unauthorized parties.

In particular, the new change consists of a padlock icon with the label “End-to-End Encrypted” prominently displayed within the top app bar. While existing chats are already end-to-end encrypted, the UI will join with future update for additional transparency.

At present, the encrypted chat caption is under development. While some Beta testers have got the indicator on the latest build, a wider rollout will follow shortly. Stay tuned with us to get updated with the latest WhatsApp insights alongside the Samsung and Android ecosystem.

WhatsApp Channel list UI

After a long testing procedure, WhatsApp has finally started releasing the most useful and prominent passkey feature for iOS. This feature is designed to offer users an additional layer of security and convenience in accessing their accounts. However, it is already available for Android users.

As per the details, WhatsApp is rolling out a passkey feature for iOS with version 24.4.10.78, also, it’s an optional element providing users with flexibility. Hence, if you don’t feel the need to keep your WhatsApp account screened or secure, then you can keep it disabled, and can also enable it anytime.

But, keeping the passkey enabled will enhance both the security and convenience of user accounts, as it introduces an alternative layer of authentication. By eliminating the necessity for a 6-digit code each time users access their accounts, this feature improves the login process, saving time and effort.

In addition, it aligns with modern authentication methods, enhancing user-friendliness and intuitiveness. This process also caters to user needs and circumstances, making the authentication process faster and enhancing the overall user experience.

Furthermore, the passkey feature is currently rolling out for iOS beta testers and will be available for general consumers in the coming weeks.

Android Auto parked apps

Google is enhancing some functions of the Android Auto app through a new update. The app allows you to use your smartphone apps on your car’s display. Now, the latest update of Android Auto comes with a new feature that shows which apps are only functional when the car is parked.

Some apps on Android Auto, such as GameSnacks, are created to provide entertainment or utility when the vehicle is stopped and parked. However, these apps are not accessible when the car is in motion, and you would get an error message if you tried to open them.

To make it easier for users to identify which apps are park-only, Android Auto now displays a “P” icon on the app icons. This way, you can avoid tapping on apps that won’t work while driving.

This feature is available in Android Auto version 11.4, which was first spotted by SmartDroid. The update is rolling out so you need to check the Play Store to install it. Android Auto is compatible with most Android phones and cars that support it.
