Samsung SmartThings Energy is partnering with British Gas to reduce energy bills around Britain. This collaboration will enable customers to better manage their energy use in homes as well as integrate British Gas’ PeakSave incentive program.

British Gas is the UK’s leading supplier of energy and home services. The company is also focused on getting the UK to net zero by 2050 by helping customers reduce their homes’ carbon footprints with a range of energy-efficient home improvements.

Integration of SmartThings Energy’s Auto Demand Response (Auto DR) feature with British Gas’ PeakSave in Great Britain is one of the core outcomes of this collab.  PeakSave rewards British Gas customers for shifting their electricity usage during peak hours when electricity demand is high.

Customers can easily take advantage of the program through SmartThings Energy’s support for Auto DR, which automatically adjusts appliances’ operating modes when an event is triggered. Additionally, customers can then earn money for using less electricity during the events.

Methods for activating SmartThings Energy’s Auto DR feature:

  1. It can automatically turn on the AI Energy Mode in SmartThings Energy to save extra energy use in the supported appliances.
  2. With the power-off function, users can consume less energy from having their appliances turned off when appropriate — this includes certain third-party lights and plugs.
  3. Savings can also be achieved through smart temperature adjustment for EHS (Heatpump) products and third-party thermostats.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Plugin January 2024 update

Samsung may be the first to debut a 3nm chipset on wearable devices. Apple and its chipset supplier TSMC may feel jealous as Samsung is expected to fuel the Galaxy Watch 7 series with an advanced Exynos W1000 processor, manufactured on a 3nm process.

Before applying 3nm to the Exynos 2500, Samsung is rumored to introduce 3nm-based Exynos W1000 with the Galaxy Watch 7 series. It’s a significant approach by the Korean tech giant over its archrivals Apple and Taiwan’s TSMC.

Samsung could commence operations of its 2nd-gen 3nm line in Korea in the second half. The fabrication site will likely mass produce a 3nm wearable chipset. The Exynos W1000 chip is slated to offer up to 20% improved computational performance and power efficiency.

Samsung devices Circle to search feature

Circle to Search will be getting a significant functional boost later this year. At I/O 2024, Google confirmed to upgrade Android’s Circle to Search with the ability to help you get your homework done. The service will add support for Math and Physics topics to help users.

Google teased at I/O 2024 that Circle to Search will add new features, helping students better understand potentially difficult class topics. Looking at what Google teased, the feature could show them step-by-step instructions for a “range of physics and math word problems.”

Thanks to the LearnLM AI models, Circle to Search will be capable of understanding and demonstrating symbolic formulas, diagrams, graphs, and more. When available, it will be accessible as an experimental feature which could be activated through Google Account under the Labs section.

To recall, Circle to Search was first released with Samsung’s S24 series earlier this year. Later on, the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro received it through an OTA upgrade. It’s one of the star new features of Android, and although iOS users can’t yet circle their math homework for help, anything is possible.
