Google App bringing back Material 3 design for bottom bar

Google App Material 3 design

Google App is updating its bottom navigation bar by bringing back a more modern design called Material 3. This change introduces a new pill-shaped indicator that shows which tab you’re using.

The revamped bottom navigation bar arrives with the latest beta version 15.40 of the Google App, thanks to 9to5Google. With the fresh design, Google aims to make it easier for users to navigate.

Instead of just highlighting the tab icon you’re on, the new design surrounds the icon with a pill shape to make it clearer and more appealing. Google app initially introduced this design in 2023 but later decided to revert to its previous look. Now, after some changes, the app has once again been back with the updated look.

Aside from the testing new design, the company is also looking into a new verification feature for its Search function. This feature would give verified businesses a blue checkmark, similar to what you see in Gmail to help users easily identify trustworthy sources online.

Not everyone has access to Google App’s latest beta update yet, but users can force-stop the app through their device settings if they don’t see the new look right away. With the return of Material 3 design and new features on the way, users can look forward to a more enhanced experience in the Google App.

Google retracts report suggesting MediaTek chip in Galaxy S25

Samsung Galaxy S24 September 2024 update

Exynos 2500 could not be commercialized in Galaxy S25 due to Samsung Foundry’s 3nm yield issues. Google recently published an erroneous report suggesting the flagship MediaTek Dimensity chipset in the Samsung Galaxy S25.

The erroneous report by Google spread widely following the early rumors of Samsung’s adoption of the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 in the Galaxy S25. Google has now confirmed the error that it misreported MediaTek chip and Samsung.

The original quote shown on Google’s DeepMind website was as follows:

  • For example, MediaTek, one of the top chip design companies in the world, extended AlphaChip to accelerate development of their most advanced chips — like the Dimensity Flagship 5G used in Samsung mobile phones — while improving power, performance and chip area.

After backlash, Google updated the section of paragraph – removing any reference to Samsung:

  • External organisations are also adopting and building on AlphaChip. For example, MediaTek, one of the top chip design companies in the world, extended AlphaChip to accelerate development of their most advanced chips while improving power, performance and chip area.

The ‘Google DeepMind team’ reportedly confirmed to AndroidAuthority that the passage ‘Dimensity Flagship 5G used in Samsung mobile phones’ was ‘erroneous’. Well, it doesn’t mean that Samsung won’t be using MediaTek in Galaxy.

Last month, the Tab S10 series debuted with Dimensity 9300+ internationally. It was the first time when Samsung utilized MediaTek chipset in its flagship product range. The Samsung-MediaTek partnership may expand further next year.

So far, we haven’t seen any clue about the Galaxy S25 with Exynos 2500. The Galaxy S25 Plus and S25 Ultra benchmarked with Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. Therefore, it’s undeniable that the vanilla S25 could not ship with Dimensity 9400 SoC.

Samsung’s new all-solid-state batteries will power future Galaxy devices

Published

on

We have been hearing about the EV-like battery’s arrival on mobile devices. It was reported that Samsung could first bring the new battery tech in wearables. Indeed, Samsung’s all-solid-state batteries will boost future Galaxy devices.

Developments indicate at imminent launch of all-solid-state and pure silicon batteries. The new all-solid-state batteries will debut with Samsung’s future mobile devices. The mass production is expected to commence by 2026.

You may have heard about Samsung Electro-Mechanics’ achievement of successfully developing ultra-small all-solid-state batteries. These batteries replace flammable liquid electrolytes with solid ones, enhancing safety and reducing many risks.

Apart from Samsung, a North American firm is also said to be working on pure silicon batteries. This technology only uses silicon for the anode as part of promising significantly increased battery life and reduced charging times.

Samsung Solid-State Battery

Samsung Electro-Mechanics has a lead…

The Korean tech giant recently announced the successful development of oxide-based ultra-small all-solid-state batteries. Samsung has also supplied prototypes to key customers for evaluation before commercializing into consumer products.

Notably, Samsung is the world’s first firm that has achieved the milestone of developing ultra-small all-solid-state batteries. As mass production is expected in 2026, we assume the Galaxy Watch 9 series could boast new all-solid-state batteries.

All-solid-state batteries are cells, which replace liquid electrolytes with non-flammable solids. Samsung is pushing for applications in wearable devices that closely adhere to the body, such as smartwatches and earbuds.
