Apple completely ditched the display notch with the iPhone 15 lineup this year. Well, Apple is expected to launch iPhone with under-display camera technology after 2026. The company’s camera supplier has reportedly begun the development of under panel camera.
TheElec sources say that LG Innotek was found to have begun advanced development of UPC. The company is developing a special lens called the “Freeform Optic” lens to overcome the limitations of the existing under-panel camera tech – insufficient light quantity.
It is reported that Apple received under-display camera samples for iPhone from related companies but evaluated its performance as unsatisfactory. However, the US tech giant plans to apply Underpanel Face ID to the front of the iPhone before applying UPC.
By applying a freeform lens, the thickness of the peripheral lens can be controlled, thereby reducing the aberration of the optical system and optical module and increasing the light ratio around the optical system and optical module, the image quality of the area can be improved.
It’s worth noting that Samsung has been applying UPC to the internal screen of the Galaxy Z Fold series since 2021. The camera specifications are still low, with the UPC applied to last year’s Galaxy Z Fold 4 and this year’s Z Fold 5 limited to 4-megapixel.
Forget apps, this Android phone uses AI to do everything you need: Concept
At the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024, Deutsche Telekom unveiled a new concept phone that does not use any apps but depends entirely on AI to meet user’s needs.
The app-free experimental device is developed in partnership with Qualcomm and Brain.AI. As per the AndroidAuthority, the phone is designed to offer a seamless and intuitive user interface that responds to prompts such as the user can ask the AI to suggest a travel place, a restaurant, or a product to buy or to share a photo with their contacts.
The company’s CEO, Tim Hoettges, said that this concept phone represents a possible future for smartphones, where apps will become outdated. He said, “I can tell you that in 5-10 years from now, nobody from us will use apps anymore.”
However, the AI phone is still just a concept, and there is no guarantee that it will ever become a reality. Moreover, the idea of an app-free AI phone is not fully new, as Brain.AI already has an iOS app that claims to do the same thing. However, the app has received mostly negative reviews from users.
Therefore, it remains to be seen whether Deutsche Telekom’s AI phone concept will be able to overcome the challenges and limitations of app-less AI, or whether it will remain just a concept.
Xiaomi 14 Ultra 5x camera sensor smashes Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra
In January 2024, Samsung launched the Galaxy S24 series with cutting-edge features, and so far, there was no phone available that could compete with the Ultra model of this newly launched lineup. But now Xiaomi 14 Ultra has arrived to smash the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra with the 5x camera sensor.
As per the information of Ice Universe, Xiaomi 14 Ultra, and Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra have 5x sensors with the same specifications, the former is IMX858, and the latter is IMX854, with specifications of 50mp 0.7μm. But when he compared the results, Samsung lagged behind the Chinese tech giant.
The tipster further states that the gap in software algorithms is too big, but Samsung now needs to admit that it has fallen behind and the times have changed. The shots that have been shared, show a big difference, Xiaomi has a much brighter aperture, while, Galaxy S24 Ultra image colors look washed out.
Therefore, the Leica-powered 50-megapixel quad camera setup seems superior to every other camera phone in the market. Along with Leica’s tuning, Xiaomi promises excellent photos and videos from its combination of a 50MP Sony LYT 900 image sensor (with variable aperture lens).
There is also a 50MP ultrawide camera, a 50MP portrait camera (with 3.2X optical zoom), and a 50MP telephoto camera (with 5x optical zoom). Did you like the Xiaomi 14 Ultra’s 5x camera sensor take on the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra?
