Samsung explores 3D Chiplet tech to enhance Exynos chips

Samsung is reportedly discussing ways to use 3D Chiplet tech to improve Exynos chipset’s productivity. It has been disclosed that the company is actively considering the application of this next-generation packaging technology in Exynos mobile chips.

There will be many challenges in commercialization, however, the application is the way to go as front-end process tech is reaching its physical limits. 3D packaging technology makes it easy to reduce the overall package size alongside improving bandwidth and power efficiency.

3D Chiplet technology attracting attention mainly in advanced semiconductor fields such as HPC (High Performance Computing) and AI (Artificial Intelligence). It is estimated that it can bring various advantages to mobile chipsets, such as miniaturization and improved performance.

An official familiar with the matter said, “Samsung Electronics is internally considering applying 3D chiplets to Exynos,” adding, “The judgment was that there were significant benefits that could be gained through this.”

Samsung rolled out the One UI 6.1 update for several devices, and now the Galaxy F34 is next in line to get this major upgrade. The update has started rolling out to users in India and will soon be available for all F34 models shortly.

One UI 6.1 update for Samsung Galaxy F34 smartphone arrives with PDA version E346BXXU4CXE1 in India. Users will have to download around 2GB package to install the update.

Based on Android 14, the major One UI update brings new features for photo and video management, including an AI that suggests edits, and the ability to copy elements from one image to another.

Moreover, it introduces new lock screen widgets and customizable alarm alerts with multimedia options. The Calendar app now supports adding stickers to dates. This update also enhances data security with improved Samsung Cloud services and introduces Passkey for quicker sign-ins.

Furthermore, some enhancements have been made to the Finder, battery settings, weather widget, Health app, and more. Notably, the update installs a May 2024 security patch to improve system security and stability.

To check for software updates manually, head toward your phone’s Settings. At the bottom, you will get the Software Update section, simply open it. Inside the menu, you need to hit the Download and Install button if your Galaxy fetches a new OTA.
