OnePlus Open’s OxygenOS 13.2 steals One UI’s best features

Published

OnePlus Open

Yesterday, OnePlus officially launched its first foldable smartphone. The new OnePlus Open ships with Android 13-based OxygenOS 13.2, which packs One UI’s best multitasking features. During the event, the company displayed various multitasking features that the OnePlus Open ships with.

OnePlus claims that Open phone’s OxygenOS 13.2 provides approximately 95% app compatibility without ‘forcing weird visual or use adjustments or resizing’. The software also has the Taskbar feature, which Google introduced with Android 12L and refined with Android 13.

Judging from what OnePlus revealed, it has a way to go before reaching Samsung’s level of software optimization for foldables. It doesn’t remain a thing to complain about anymore, but most of the productivity features of Open are derived/copied from the One UI, some are as follows:

  1. Taskbar, which provides easy access to recent apps
  2. Split-screen mode, which can be enabled via a two-finger swipe gesture
  3. Ability to expand the split-screen app with quick taps and swipes
  4. Triple multi-window mode.
  5. Smart orientation for apps running in multi-window
  6. Drag and drop sharing using the taskbar section

It has been noticed that OnePlus Open can’t show four apps at once, which is a basic ability of Galaxy Z Fold phones. While Samsung’s foldables are capable of opening a second app on its main display, OnePlus’s latest products lag behind here too.
