Samsung just revealed its August 2023 update stuff for the Galaxy S23 series Camera and Gallery. For international units, the update had already been rolled out, while, the US, Canadian and Korean variants are starting to receive the firmware today.

Korean community’s Camera moderator also disclosed that Samsung has optimized the rear digital zoom quality and high-pixel detail in photo mode. The update includes optimization for camera quality and performance based on the feedback shared by Galaxy S23 users.

All about Samsung’s August 2023 Camera update

1. During 2x zoom operation in photo/video mode, the high-resolution sensor crops to provide optical lens-level image quality, and a 2x zoom lens icon can be added through the Camera Assistant. Besides, you can add a 2x zoom icon in the video Super Steady on the S23 Ultra.

How to use?

  • Camera Assistant > Crop Zoom (Optical Quality Crop Zoom) On: 2x zoom icon displayed in photo/movie mode

2. The AI ​​deep learning technology-based digital zoom picture quality improvement solution applied to the photo mode of Z Fold 5/Flip 5 (operating in a specific zoom magnification range) was also reflected and optimized for the S23.

3. Optimized details by improving the blur of normal illumination when shooting high-pixel 50MP/200MP in photo mode, and optimized shadow noise.

4. Optimized the file size when shooting motion photos in photo mode.

5. Improved motion blur when shooting moving subjects in photo mode.

6. Optimized camera performance (inter-shot interval, super-steady frame drop, etc.) to improve various shooting experiences in photo/video mode.

7. Increased the frame rate of Big Circle, Color Point, and Glitch effects from 24fps to 30fps in portrait video mode.

8. Adjusted intensity for natural face shape correction in front photo mode.

9. Adjusted the focus position to reduce peripheral image blur when shooting close-up subjects in the rear photo mode of the S23 and S23+ models.

Users of the Samsung Galaxy S20 series can identify the November 2023 security update on the T-Mobile network in the US with One UI build versions G98xUSQS7HWJ1 for locked models and G98xU1UES7HWJ4 for unlocked models.

The fresh update includes a November 2023 security patch, which brings fixes for over 60 vulnerabilities and exposures that were harming user privacy and security.

Millions of Samsung consumers are eligible for the One UI 6.0 update. Before the October end, Samsung started to release the Stable Android 14-based One UI 6.0 to the Galaxy S23 series devices. The expansion will continue along with new Galaxy devices in the update party.
