Samsung’s June 2025 update for Galaxy S24 might’ve just teased One UI 8 Beta

Samsung starts pushing the June 2025 update to the Galaxy S24 series, which has a surprise One UI 8 Beta tease. While the update’s scope is limited to security enhancements, it makes the devices ready for an imminent OS switch.
The Galaxy S24 series is starting to receive the June 2025 security update in South Korea. The firmware’s rollout has just begun, and Korean users should receive it sequentially.
Last week, Samsung dropped details of its June 2025 security patch. For Android, it contains fixes for over three dozen High-labeled CVEs. Samsung additionally included 19 SVE items to ensure security and privacy on Galaxy devices.
To update your device, jump to Samsung’s Settings > Software update > Download and install.
While S24’s June patch has just landed, Samsung is now widely rolling out the update for the Galaxy S25 series. This firmware has also bumped the bootloader version, giving users strong vibes of a Beta 2 release along with market expansion.
What’s the One UI 8 Beta surprise?
Samsung’s latest Galaxy S24 update tightens security measures by blocking a software rollback. While complete details awaited, it would be tweaking the bootloader version, ultimately barring users from going to a previous build.
Galaxy users often receive firmware updates with such tweaks. However, it’s One UI 8 Beta testing time, and such a change in software mechanism is nothing but a solid hint at an imminent launch of the One UI 8 Beta Program.
Google has recently released the Stable Android 16 update. The new OS introduces plenty of new features, and most of the new additions are set to land on Galaxy devices, thanks to Google and Samsung’s collaborative approach.
Samsung’s Android 16-based One UI 8 Beta Program is currently available for the Galaxy S25 series in the US, UK, Germany, and South Korea, while India and Poland are the most likely candidates once the expansion takes place.

One UI 8 Watch succeeds the One UI 6 Watch
One UI 8 Watch succeeds One UI 6 Watch, skipping One UI 7 Watch entirely. Samsung is aligning its watch software versioning with its smartphone updates, like One UI 8 for phones, for a more unified ecosystem experience.
One UI 8 Watch Update Rollout
- Launch – July 2025 with Watch8s
- Beta – July/August for Watch7/Ultra

The rollout begins in July 2025 with the Galaxy Watch8 series. These new smartwatches will launch with One UI 8 Watch pre-installed, giving users immediate access to the latest software features and improvements.
Around the Watch8 reveal in July, Samsung will start a Beta Program for the Galaxy Watch7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra. This phase lets select users test One UI 8 Watch early, providing feedback before the stable version releases.
Following the Beta Program, the Stable One UI 8 Watch update will directly reach the Galaxy Watch 6 and Galaxy Watch 5 series. This ensures that slightly older models still benefit from the new software enhancements.
The Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic’s eligibility is uncertain. Its official four-year software support promise, starting from its 2021 launch, ends in August 2025. If the rollout extends past August, it might miss this update.
Samsung’s One UI 8 Watch rollout starts with the Galaxy Watch8 series in July 2025, followed by Watch7, Ultra, Watch 6, and Watch 5. The Watch 4’s fate depends on timing, but all eligible devices will gain valuable upgrades.
Tizen to Wear OS plus One UI Watch
Samsung’s Wear OS journey began with the Galaxy Watch 4 in 2021, shifting from Tizen to a polished Google-Samsung collaboration. One UI 8 Watch could be the last update for some models, especially the Watch 4.
