Many Samsung Notes users have noticed that some highlighter options are missing after a recent app update. In the older version, users had separate options for a normal highlighter and a straight highlighter.

After the update, the separate straight highlighter is no longer visible. This made some users think that Samsung had removed the feature completely. Many users also checked the settings but could not find a way to bring it back.

According to a Samsung moderator, the feature has not been removed. Instead, Samsung has changed how it works. In the previous version, the regular pen and straight pen were separate tools. With the new update, Samsung has combined them into one pen option. The app now has a new setting, Automatic Straight Correction.

You can find this option in the pen settings menu. When you turn it on, Samsung Notes can automatically make your lines straight while you draw. Samsung made this change to keep the app’s design simple and consistent. The straight-line feature can now also be used with other tools, such as the pen and pencil.

So, users do not need to look for a separate straight highlighter anymore. If you want to draw a straight line, simply open the pen settings and turn on Automatic Straight Correction.

The change may be confusing for users who were familiar with the old Samsung Notes design. However, the straight-line feature is still available. Samsung has only moved it to a new setting instead of keeping it as a separate tool.

Samsung has quietly fixed an annoying visual bug that had been bothering Galaxy S23 series owners and users of a few other Galaxy models. Well, a new Samsung Camera app update addresses the green-line issue with photo thumbnails.

The issue showed up as a green line running across photo thumbnails in the Camera app, and while it never touched the actual photos, it was still enough to make anyone pause and wonder if something was wrong with their phone.

What was actually going wrong

The bug surfaced specifically when users captured high-resolution photos. Once the shot was taken, the small preview thumbnail generated by the Camera app would render with a visible green line running through it.

Open the full-size image in the Gallery app, though, and the line was nowhere to be found. This confirmed that the problem sat entirely in how the Camera app processed and displayed thumbnails, not in the image itself.

Samsung Camera fixes green line thumbnails

Samsung rolled out a fix through the Camera app (via Kailash), which is good news for anyone who wants a quick resolution. The update, version 16.5.03.2, is now live on the Galaxy Store and directly patches the thumbnail rendering glitch.

Getting it installed only takes a minute:

• Open the Galaxy Store on your device
• Head to the Menu section and tap Updates
• Find Camera in the list and tap the update icon to grab version 16.5.03.2 or later

This thumbnail bug has nothing to do with the more serious “green line of death” that has plagued several Samsung devices. That separate issue is a hardware defect where a persistent bright green line appears vertically.

Samsung has temporarily stopped Google Play System updates for Galaxy phones running the One UI 9.0 beta. This includes the Galaxy S26 series, which is currently testing the new software based on Android 17.

The Korean tech giant made this decision with Google and said that users do not need to worry. The company has already added important Google security fixes to the One UI 9.0 beta software, so devices remain safe to use.

Google has introduced a new feature in Google Wallet that helps parents send money to their children safely. The feature is now rolling out in the United States for kids under 18 years old.

Many children do not have a bank account. Due to this, it can be difficult for them to pay for food, school supplies, or other small items. With the new feature, parents can create a secure balance in their child’s Google Wallet and add money whenever needed. Kids can then use their Android phone or Wear OS smartwatch to make tap-to-pay purchases at stores.

Parents have full control of the account through Google Family Link. They can see where the money is spent, check the balance, and track all purchases in real time. They can also set spending limits to help children spend wisely.

Google says this feature is a safe way to give kids more freedom while helping them learn how to manage money. It also makes it easier for parents to send pocket money without using cash. Google will soon add another useful feature that lets parents send money automatically every week or month.

Google is rolling out two new features for Google Messages that make the app easier to use, mainly on phones with large screens. The update is now reaching more users in the beta version of the app.
