Samsung Galaxy Camera Zoom Lock
Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra camera boasts high-powered lenses, which zoom up to 100x (10x optical and up to 100x Digital on S Ultra). Samsung has a wide range of Galaxy devices that allow you to zoom up to 30x digitally, with Ultra (s) ranges up to 100x.
Using a camera featuring such high-resolution zoom, you can get a clear picture of the moon. However, capturing shake-free shots with high-res zoom can be a bit tricky. The angle of view narrows down, and the more you zoom in, the camera becomes more sensitive to any unsteady motion.

Through the image added below, you can see the difference between zooming in with zoom lock and without. Samsung’s Zoom lock feature helps click steady pictures with high zoom, even without a tripod. It minimizes motion from wobbly hands and helps capture stable compositions.
Thanks to Zoom lock, the image on the right is a lot steadier than the one on the left.
Supported Devices
All Samsung devices that feature 30x or higher zoom are equipped with a Zoom lock feature for shake-free photography of objects that are far away. The list of devices includes the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy S22 series, Galaxy S21 series, Galaxy Note 20 series, Galaxy S20 series, Galaxy Z Fold4, and Galaxy A72.
Zoom Lock Mode
In the Photo mode, Samsung’s Zoom lock feature doesn’t require any additional operation for activation. However, the phone should be unlocked and in a stable condition to enter this locked state. You can use the two methods zooming in above 20x, to enter zoom lock.
- Hold the phone steady for 1.5 seconds
- Touch the phone screen (the picture area).
As soon as the camera locks zoom, VDIS and OIS jointly work to keep the instability at bay. OIS and VDIS stable the motion as much as possible, given the corrective range of each feature. Both analyze the image to lock in on the angle of view.
This helps steady the picture a lot by saving captured details and hiking the correction performance. The zoom map border at the top right of the picture turning yellow indicates that the Zoom lock feature is activated. You can now hit the shutter to get a highly zoomed-in picture.

Your Samsung Galaxy could get Gemini AI button on lock screen!
Google is putting much effort into Gemini Assistant. The company has already replaced Google Assistant with Gemini. Now, Google apparently working to slap a Gemini AI button right on your Samsung Galaxy phone’s lock screen.
AndroidAuthority discovered Google’s experiment to bring the Gemini AI button to Samsung Galaxy’s lock screen. It’s going to be an Android feature, which Samsung won’t miss out on bringing to Galaxy smartphones.
Android lets you trigger Gemini in many ways. You can swipe up from the home screen’s bottom, press and hold the home button, or hold the power key. A dedicated AI button on the lock screen would make things a lot easier for consumers.
The QPR1 Beta 2 of Android 15 has a flag, which could unlock the AI button on the lock screen. Mishaal managed to enable the button on the Pixel smartphone, placed right below the fingerprint sensing area on the lock screen.
Although the button appeared on the lock screen, it doesn’t function at all. It’s a pill-shaped toggle, which is slightly larger than the two lock screen shortcuts. The button also has the AI sparkle icon in the middle, which looks classy.
Android 15 is about to begin rolling out on Pixel smartphones. Google is also running the QPR Beta Program on various Pixel models. The Gemini AI button could be a part of the company’s preparations for the Android 16 operating system.

Samsung recently updated its software support plan for October 2024, and it has noted that the Galaxy Z Fold 2 5G will no longer receive any updates. This popular foldable smartphone has been removed from the list of eligible devices for One UI updates and security patches because it has completed its update cycle.
The Galaxy Z Fold 2 was launched in 2020, initially coming with Android 10. It has since received updates, including the Android 13 update with One UI 5.1.1. The phone operates on Android 13, which supports all major apps, including those for banking, so users can continue to perform their daily tasks without issues.
Additionally, Google Play continues to provide system updates to ensure that the phone’s key features remain up to date.
