iPhone Duo, Apple’s first foldable phone, could face a problem at launch that Samsung knows all too well: demand may far outstrip supply.

According to ETNews, Apple’s supply chain is reportedly struggling to reach its planned production volume for the iPhone Duo, with manufacturing output said to be significantly below expectations.

The situation is tied to the complexity of producing Apple’s first foldable, which introduces new components such as a foldable display and hinge while still requiring Apple’s usual quality standards.

The production bottleneck could be particularly important because the iPhone Duo is expected to generate substantial demand from both existing iPhone owners and consumers who have been waiting for Apple to enter the foldable market.

Pre-orders reportedly starting October 16, and sales beginning October 23. However, limited global production could mean smaller country allocations, early sell-outs and longer delivery times for certain colors and storage variants.

Apple iPhone Duo supply crunch could help Samsung

Samsung has spent years building its foldable business and supply chain, while Apple is effectively starting from scratch with the iPhone Duo.

If Apple cannot quickly improve production yields, consumers who want a foldable iPhone but cannot get one immediately may have more reason to consider Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip models instead.

That does not mean every delayed iPhone Duo buyer will switch to Galaxy. Apple’s ecosystem remains a powerful retention tool. Still, if shortages extend through the crucial holiday period, Samsung could benefit from the timing.

ET News reports that some supply-chain expectations point toward production stabilizing early next year. If that happens, the initial shortage could remain a temporary launch issue. If not, Apple’s first foldable could become a case where demand is not the problem, but manufacturing capacity is.

Samsung may be testing a larger vapor chamber for some Galaxy S27 Ultra prototypes powered by the Exynos 2700, hinting that thermal management could be receiving extra attention if the company moves ahead with its own flagship silicon.

According to X tipster @kro_roe, some Galaxy S27 Ultra test units equipped with the Exynos 2700 feature a slightly larger vapor chamber. The detail is still at the prototype stage, so it does not confirm that the larger cooling hardware will make it into the retail device.

Samsung has traditionally reserved the Ultra series for its most capable hardware, while processor availability has varied by market.

The Galaxy S27 Ultra has already been linked to the possibility of Samsung using the Exynos 2700 in the Ultra model, which would represent a notable shift if it eventually becomes a production decision.

A larger vapor chamber would make sense if Samsung is pushing the Exynos 2700 harder than previous Exynos chips.

The component spreads heat generated by the processor across a larger surface area, helping the phone sustain performance during demanding workloads such as gaming, camera processing and on-device AI tasks.

A prototype cooling change does not necessarily mean the Exynos 2700 runs unusually hot. Samsung could simply be testing different thermal configurations to determine how much headroom the chip needs under sustained loads.

For now, the Exynos 2700 Galaxy S27 Ultra remains unconfirmed, and so does the larger vapor chamber. But if Samsung is genuinely evaluating Exynos for the Ultra series, these thermal prototypes suggest the company is taking the idea seriously rather than treating it as a simple processor swap.

The tablets feature a Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with up to a 120Hz refresh rate for smooth viewing. They are also thin, lightweight, and IP68 dust and water resistant.

AI features can further support learning. Gemini Notebook can bring notes, images, recordings, and files together and create summaries and quizzes. The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and Galaxy Tab S12+ will be available starting October 7, 2026.

Samsung’s Galaxy S27 series is already making headlines ahead of its expected launch. A new screen protector leak has revealed the possible size and design of the upcoming Galaxy S27, Galaxy S27+, Galaxy S27 Pro, and Galaxy S27 Ultra.

According to the leaked screen protector, the Galaxy S27 and S27 Pro appear almost the same in size. However, the S27 Pro may be slightly wider than the regular S27.

The Galaxy S27+ is expected to be bigger, while the S27 Ultra could be the largest phone in the lineup. This is as per the display size revealed via screen protectors.

Earlier leaks suggest that the Galaxy S27 may have a 6.27-inch display. The S27 Pro could come with a 6.47-inch screen. The S27+ may have a 6.66-inch display, while the S27 Ultra could feature a 6.89-inch screen.

The leaked screen protectors also suggest that Samsung may not make major changes to the front design. The new phones could look similar to the current Galaxy S series. The S27 Pro and Ultra may also get Privacy Glass, which makes the screen harder to see from the side.

Samsung may also bring several hardware upgrades. Some Galaxy S27 models could use the new Exynos 2700 processor. The phones may also offer more RAM and storage. The S27 Ultra could reportedly have up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage.

However, these details are based on leaks and rumors. Samsung has not officially confirmed the Galaxy S27 series, its specifications or prices yet.

Samsung has reportedly started mass production of Exynos 2700 to be used as a Galaxy S27 series chipset, and the target has been ramped up by about 10 percent compared to the Exynos 2600.

Trusted Korean news outlet TheElec reports that Samsung is making 10% more Exynos 2700 chips than Exynos 2600. The increase in production suggests that the company’s in-house SoC would be expanding its utilization.

More Exynos 2700, but S27 Ultra looks safe

Samsung is making four Galaxy S27 series models this year, including a new Pro version. It’s expected that the Galaxy S27 Pro would also be equipped with Exynos 2700 chipset in select markets, including Asia and Europe.

Until last month, the MX division had not finalized the Exynos 2700 adoption rate, but it has now set the volume to be installed in the Galaxy S27 base, Plus, and Pro models and entered front-end (wafer) mass production.

Internal sources suggest that Samsung is quite optimistic about its next in-house chip. The second 2nm Galaxy processor would compete with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, and the performance battle could be neck-and-neck.

• Exynos 2700 scores point to a big performance jump

Samsung’s System LSI arm desperately wants Exynos in the Ultra model. However, it is a very tough call for Samsung’s MX Business. Galaxy S Ultra is the highest-selling Android flagship, and performance is a key metric.

Even though production is getting ramped up, the Galaxy S27 Ultra looks safe from Exynos 2700’s adoption. The company may continue to power its top-tier flagship model with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite series chipset.
