Samsung caught reserving One UI 5.1 for Galaxy S21 in the US

According to the information, Samsung released the February 2023 security patch to carrier-unlocked Galaxy S21, S21+, and S21 Ultra in the US. The latest firmware for unlocked variants doesn’t include the enhancements introduced by the One UI 5.1 iteration in early February.
For verification, Samsung US consumers can identify the new February patch via release versions: G991U1UES5DWB2, G996U1UES5DWB2, and G998U1UES5DWB2 for the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21 Plus, and Galaxy S21 Ultra, respectively.
What’s New
A couple of days back, the South Korean tech giant shared the content (5 Critical and 43 High-level CVEs) of its February 2023 security patch. Moreover, the company described 7 Galaxy-specific vulnerabilities related to One UI apps such as Samsung Phone, Contacts, Fingerprint scanner, and Secure folder.
Is Samsung reserving One UI 5.1?
Samsung’s One UI 5.1 update is continuously expanding to more and more markets worldwide. Consumers of the Galaxy S21 series are still waiting for the new features and enhancements as Samsung doesn’t seem in the mood to deliver the One UI 5.1 for now!
Battery draining and low power efficiency issues are the possible reasons behind Samsung’s One UI 5.1 rollout delay. Some Galaxy S22 users reported having bad battery performance post-One UI 5.1 installation, therefore, it’s possible that the company wants to deliver bug-free firmware in the US.
The Galaxy S21 series is eligible for new software updates per month, thanks to Samsung’s update policy. Since the February patch misses One UI 5.1 for the US Galaxy S21 units, we guess March firmware would surely come with new features inspired by the Galaxy S23 series.
To install the February patch, head towards Settings >> Software updates >> Download and install.
