It’s truly great news for Samsung fans owning the Galaxy Watch 4 or Galaxy Watch 5 smartwatch. Since these wearable lineups run Google’s Wear OS platform, all the novelties would be available on top of the next One UI Watch version.

According to the report, Android 14 code changes show that the company is planning to bring Material You Dynamic Colors feature support to the Wear OS platform. Android’s wearables-related settings present list has added a new option called “DYNAMIC_COLOR_THEME_ENABLED.”

The current Wear OS 3 version is based on Android 11, but, still, it takes quite a bit of design influence from Material You, between system UI design and individual apps. As part of a future update of Wear OS, the platform would add the most awaited dynamic color support.

It’s not clear, whether the next Wear OS version will be based on Android 13 or Android 14. However, it’s going to be a major switch, which will offer more new features to wearable devices along with usability improvements and ease of access.

Folks over at 9to5Google believe that watch faces could inform the Wear OS system of what colors to use for a Material You theme. On the flip side, it might simply match the dynamic color scheme of your paired Android phone, assuming it supports theming.

The study will compare reference data against smartwatch data from both indoor (treadmill) and outdoor running trials of different distances, from 2.5km to 20km.

Runners at all levels grapple with sweat loss, dehydration and heat management, particularly during the summer months. Samsung and University of Michigan teams hope the study’s findings will further enhance smartwatch technology, giving runners more accurate measurements of their health metrics.
