Samsung’s 3M features make the Galaxy Z Fold 8 a bestseller

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8

Samsung’s 3M features are some of the biggest factors pushing Galaxy Z Fold 8 sales. Consumers not only fall in love with the new form factor, but also with software-driven features: My FanCam, Multi Window, and Mirror View.

It’s about three small, cleverly named features that are quietly becoming the reason younger buyers are picking new foldables. Samsung is calling them the “3M features,” a nod to the shared M in My FanCam, Multi Window, and Mirror View.

My FanCam

Tag your favorite person in a video and AI does the rest, tracking them and re-cutting the footage around just them. It’s available across the Galaxy Fold 8 Ultra, Fold 8, and Flip 8, but the Ultra is where it really shines.

Multi Window

The Galaxy Z Fold 8’s 7.6-inch, 4:3 inner display was practically made for the Multi Window experience. Up to three apps side by side, resized however you like, no wasted bezel space eating into your workspace.

The Flip 8 turns its cover screen into an actual mirror substitute: real-looking colors, edge lighting for dim rooms, and a quick double press or swipe to launch it.

Galaxy Z8 selling like hotcakes worldwide

The Fold 8, Fold 8 Ultra, and Flip 8 together crossed 1.44 million preorders in just seven days in South Korea. Across the US, preorders for the latest Fold models were about 30 percent ahead of the previous record holder.

Europe tells a similar story, with overall preorders up more than 20 percent year over year. In Japan, the Fold 8 reportedly sold out across most color and storage combinations.

In India, the Fold 8 Ultra is leading pre-bookings with roughly a 60 percent share, while the standard Fold 8 trails at about 35 percent.

Samsung Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4

Samsung is partnering with Activision as the official TV, monitor, soundbar, and Wi-Fi speaker of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. The collaboration aims to offer a preview of the new title to gamers through Samsung’s gadgets.

The South Korean tech giant will serve as the official TV, monitor, soundbar, and Wi-Fi speaker partner for the highly anticipated shooter, bringing its display and audio tech directly into one of gaming’s biggest franchises.

HDR10+ GAMING

At the core of this collaboration is HDR10+ GAMING support, which Samsung is integrating into Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. The idea is to let players see the game closer to how its developers intended.

There’s also a treat for ultrawide fans. Modern Warfare 4 will officially support a 32:9 aspect ratio, meaning Samsung Odyssey G9 owners can stretch their field of view for a wider, more immersive battlefield perspective.

Here’s what Samsung charges to replace Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Flip 8 screens in the US

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Fold 8 Ultra

Samsung has quietly updated its screen repair pricing for the newly launched Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Flip 8, giving buyers a clear picture of what they’ll pay if their foldable’s display takes a hit down the line.

Foldables have always carried a bit of anxiety around durability, and knowing the repair costs upfront helps put things in perspective before you decide to pick one up.

Inner screen module replacement pricing

Starting with the priciest option, a full inner screen module replacement for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra will set you back $639 in the US.

The standard Galaxy Z Fold 8 comes in a bit cheaper at $579 for the same repair, while the Galaxy Z Flip 8’s inner screen replacement costs $359.

  • Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra (Inner) – $639
  • Galaxy Z Fold 8 (Inner) – $579
  • Galaxy Z Flip 8 (Inner) – $359

Outer screen repair pricing

Repairing the outer display on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra costs $149, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 comes in at $139, and the Galaxy Z Flip 8’s outer screen repair is priced at $129.

  • Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra (Outer) – $149
  • Galaxy Z Fold 8 (Outer) – $139
  • Galaxy Z Flip 8 (Outer) – $129

How this compares to last year’s models

Looking at how this year’s pricing stacks up against the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 lineup, there are some notable shifts.

The Galaxy Z Fold 7’s inner screen repair was priced at $449, considerably less than what Samsung is now charging for a full module replacement on the Fold 8 series. That said, this isn’t a direct comparison since the categories themselves differ this year.

On the Flip side, the Galaxy Z Flip 7’s inner screen repair sat at $249, while the Flip 7 FE was priced even lower at $209. The Galaxy Z Flip 8’s $359 inner module replacement price reflects that jump into a different pricing structure altogether.

For outer screens, the difference is much smaller. The Galaxy Z Fold 7’s outer screen repair was $139, exactly matching what the Galaxy Z Fold 8 costs this year. The Galaxy Z Flip 7’s outer repair was $119, just a notch below the Flip 8’s $129.

Samsung 25W Adapter bought on Amazon faces fake product claim

Amazon Samsung Fake Adapter claim

A customer has raised concerns about a Samsung 25W adapter bought from Amazon India. He claimed that the adapter is not genuine. Atul Tiwari shared his complaint on X and mentioned Amazon India in his post.

According to his tweet, the order was placed with order ID 402-3304623-8207544. The seller listed for the product is M/s IBERLS, and the product was a Samsung 25W adapter.

Atul Tiwari said he noticed a difference between the product box and the adapter. The box reportedly says “Made in India,” while the adapter itself says “Made in Vietnam.” This difference made him question the product’s authenticity. The customer has described the product as fake, but the claim has not yet been independently confirmed.

The case has, however, raised concerns among online shoppers about buying electronic accessories from third-party sellers. Chargers and adapters are important products, and customers usually want to be sure that they are original and safe to use.

Customers who receive a product they believe may be fake should keep the box, take clear pictures of the product and contact Amazon and Samsung for verification. The incident also highlights the importance of checking seller details and product information before buying electronics online.

At present, the information is based on Tiwari’s social media post. Further verification from Amazon, Samsung or the seller would be needed to confirm whether the adapter is genuine or fake.

US budget phone market is feeling the memory crunch

Published

on

Samsung Galaxy A17 5G

Surging memory chip prices have significantly shrunken the US budget phone market. Sales of smartphones priced under $100 plummeted in the second quarter of this year to one-third of the level seen in the same period last year.

According to Counterpoint Research, sales of sub-$100 smartphones in the US market fell 64 percent YoY in Q2. This drop occurred as smartphone makers cut shipments or raised prices due to rising costs of memory chips.

During the same period, combined sales of the top four manufacturers, Apple, Samsung, Motorola, and Google, declined by 4 percent. In contrast, sales from all other brands combined dropped by 45%. Overall market sales fell 5 percent.

Some smaller brands, such as HMD, had already exited or scaled back operations in the US market due to slumps in the prepaid market and concerns over US government tariff policy last year.

Compounded by rising costs for memory and storage, the business environment has become increasingly difficult for niche manufacturers whose primary revenue comes from low-cost, low-margin devices.

Prepaid smartphone sales in the US decreased 11 percent year-over-year in Q2. However, amid price pressures, Samsung and Motorola capitalized on the slump of rival budget brands to expand their market shares.

Samsung’s share of the US prepaid smartphone market rose 9 percentage points from 38 percent in Q2 last year to 47 percent in Q2 this year. During the same timeframe, Motorola grew 4 percentage points to reach 32 percent.

Mobile carriers relied heavily on Samsung’s Galaxy A series and Motorola’s Moto G series to retain churning prepaid customers. As low-cost lineups dwindled, carrier options essentially narrowed to these two brands.
