Samsung began 2023 by launching the Galaxy S23 flagships and recently unveiled the Galaxy A54/A34 mid-rangers. Now, the company is focussing on improved Galaxy Z Fold5 and Galaxy Z Flip5 for its August debut, while the S23 FE is reportedly dead and the tri-folding device might be coming this year.

According to tipster YogeshBrar, Samsung’s most-anticipated Galaxy S23 FE smartphone has not entered the development chain so far. It indicates that the company has not any plan for the next Fan Edition this year, as it aims big, way too big.

Apart from focussing on the Galaxy Z Fold5 and Galaxy Z Flip5 foldable phones, the South Korean tech giant is aiming to ship a new type of foldable this year, which could be a tri-folding device. As of now, there’s no information from Samsung about its plans to commercialize a tri-folding display device.

Since there’s no official information available on the tri-folding Galaxy device, we are sure that it will be equipped with Samsung Display. As it’s going to have a tri-fold form factor, the company may bring two hinges in the device so it can fold twice and take the shape of a tablet while fully unfolded.

Previously, it was reported that the Galaxy Z Fold5 and Galaxy Z Flip5 devices would feature a new kind of droplet (waterdrop) hinge. This new technology is under testing internally, which could make it possible to lessen crease wrinkles as well as reduce thickness.

More than once, Samsung Display showcased its futuristic tri-folding OLED screen. At the time of getting commercialized under the Galaxy brand, Samsung Display’s tri-fold OLED products may be refined and polished to deliver experiences like never before.

On March 23, Samsung Elec’s executive chairman Lee Jae-yong arrived in Beijing, China to attend a high-profile business summit this weekend. For the first time in three years, an official Samsung Group leader has visited China, where it operates major production facilities.

According to KoreaHerald report, the Samsung boss is scheduled to attend the three-day China Business Summit set to run at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse until Monday. He is likely to be joined by global business leaders and high-ranking Chinese government officials.

Among the key participants are Apple CEO Tim Cook, Mercedes-Benz Group AG Chairman Ola Kallenius and Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla.

Lee Jae-yong’s Beijing trip is drawing great attention from industry circles as it came shortly after the US on Tuesday announced the details of its guardrails provisions for its CHIPS for America Incentive Program, which limits the government’s subsidy recipients’ production expansion in China.

China Business Summit 2023

Under the theme of “Economic Recovery: Opportunities and Cooperation,” this year’s business summit will focus on opportunities in the Chinese market, stabilization of global supply chains, and the green transition, announced by the Development Research Center of China’s State Council.

Samsung in China

The Korean tech giant operates two chip production plants in Xi’an that produce about 40 percent of the world’s largest memory chipmaker’s global NAND flash products. In Suzhou, the tech giant operates a semiconductor packaging factory, as well as a manufacturing plant for home appliances.

Sources say the Samsung chief is highly likely to visit the company’s business operations and encourage employees there. In May 2020, the last time when he visited China, Lee met with government officials of the Shaanxi Province and inspected the Xi’an chip plants.
