Samsung DS Division President, Kyung-hyeon Kye reportedly said via TheElec:
“It is true that we are lagging behind TSMC in terms of development schedule and yield in the 4nm and 5nm sectors.”
Lee is saving Exynos?
Lee Jae-yong has recently become the Chairman of Samsung Electronics. Shortly after taking over the company, Lee visited partners’ sites and scheduled visits to Samsung manufacturing sites by the end of the year globally including Vietnam, India and Japan.
According to sources familiar with the matter, Samsung is developing the next flagship Exynos processor on 5nm manufacturing process technology instead of the 4nm. The company’s System LSI Division is producing the next Exynos with 5nm instead of 4nm due to yield problems.
If this report is correct, the upcoming Galaxy A74 and Galaxy A54 smartphones could be equipped with the 5nm-based Exynos 2300 chipset. Moreover, the same report also revealed that the Galaxy S23 is expected to be widely available with the Snapdragon chipset.
