Will Samsung repeat the One UI 7 mistake with One UI 8?

One UI 7 is the best software update so far, bringing new changes and upgrades that surpass the previous generational OS upgrades, but One UI 8 is unveiling today at Unpacked, and the question is whether Samsung will repeat a mistake with new OS version or it will take this opportunity to redeem the past fallout.
One UI 7 was first unveiled through the beta program in December. Despite spending months in testing, the phone maker kept the existing Galaxy smartphone users waiting. In January, the Galaxy S25 series made its debut with this new OS version.
Samsung took this opportunity to announce the latest software features and AI innovations. However, It completely forgot about sharing expansion details for existing models. This secrecy remained for the next two months, until the stable version finally released for S24 series in April.

This software policy struck many with doubts because the wait was purely unnecessary. I found two reasons responsible for this fallout. The first is the lack of information, and the second is the delay. Samsung is once again in the same spot with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 series making a debut with One UI 8. This scenario is identical to the S25 launch, and the aftermath is already explained above.
The One UI 8 beta program first opened in late May, and it is going through the final stages of testing for existing flagship phones and tablets. We’ve been speculating the same with One UI 7 prior to S25 series launch but Samsung played otherwise.
Therefore, it would be interesting to see whether Samsung will repeat the same mistake as One UI 7 and release One UI 8 in August. Or, it will release the update today and share a roadmap for previous devices. We’ll get an answer today at the Unpacked event.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7: Everything leaked before launch, specs, renders and more

The Galaxy Z Fold 7 will unveil tomorrow, and Samsung is planning to surprise users with new design and feature upgrades, but leaks have already revealed so much in advance to give us an understanding of what this device may offer and we’ve compiled all of them in one place, including specs, images and more.
This is the seventh-generation Z Fold device, and this year, the primary focus is on the design. Samsung has one of the most unique design philosophies among Android smartphones, and the Fold 7 has evolved with swift changes.
One of the key attractions will be its thin outlook and rectangular shape. Foldable phones don’t pay much of attention to the shape, while adopting large bezels all around. Samsung is about to reimagine this approach with Fold 7’s composition including the redesigned hinge, as the backbone of new experience.
The phone will have a larger cover screen with an improved aspect ratio, which could align with the S25+. However, the quality will be crisper. Unlike Fold 6, the successor will offer better viewing angles thanks to its large size, which makes it more useful.
The same goes for the internal screen, which will expand beyond Fold 6 and another change in the phone will be the removal of under display camera. So, you can expect a better imaging quality for selfies while using the phone unfolded.
With these two changes, the Fold 7 will not only improve the viewing experience but also contribute to a better in-hand experience. Additionally, the phone will improve the photography experience with a high-quality image sensor going to 200MP.
This will be comparable to the Galaxy S25 Ultra with similar sensors and features. This year’s foldable will get priority treatment for software upgrades, taking off with One UI 8 (Android 16) out of the box.
Galaxy Z Fold 7 specs
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 specs includes the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset with 38% faster CPU, 26% faster GPU and 41% improvement in AI over the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip.
The cover screen is 6.5 inches, increased from 6.3 inches in Fold 6. The Internal display is 8 inches, upgrading from 7.6 inches in the predecessor with dynamic AMOLED 2X. The camera system consists of a 200MP main, 12MP ultra-wide and 10MP telephoto camera. A 10MP camera is placed on the cover screen.
The phone will be 8.9mm thin when folded and 4.2mm once unfolded, and the weight will stand at 216 grams. This upgrade compares to the 12.1mm thickness of the unfolded Fold 6, 5.6mm folded, and 239 grams overall weight. So, the new device has large screens but low weight. The battery size is unchanged at 4400mAh and it will come in three colors Blue Shadow, Jet Black and Silver Shadow.

No more updates: 3 Samsung devices lose software support in July 2025

Samsung recently shared its software update plan for July 2025. In this new plan, three Galaxy devices have been removed from the list in July 2025. This means they will no longer receive any software updates from Samsung. The devices are the Galaxy Tab S7 FE, Galaxy F52 5G, and Galaxy A22 5G.
These three devices were released in 2021. They have now completed their update cycle. Before being removed, they were getting updates twice a year.
Over the past four years, the Galaxy Tab S7 FE, Galaxy F52 5G, and Galaxy A22 5G devices received major Android updates and security updates as promised by Samsung. Now, their software support has officially ended.
However, there’s no need to worry too much. These devices will still get Google Play system updates. These updates help fix important issues and keep your phone secure. You’ll still be able to use apps like banking apps without any problem. The only thing is, you won’t get the latest Android features anymore.
If you want to enjoy the latest features, security updates, and performance improvements, you can switch to a newer device. Samsung has newer models like the Galaxy A56, Galaxy F56 5G, and the Galaxy Tab S10 series, which will continue to get regular updates and offer the latest features.
Still, if your current device is working well and you’re happy with it, there’s no need to upgrade. These phones and tablets will continue to work normally for daily use, such as calling, texting, browsing, and using apps.
While these three Samsung Galaxy devices have ended update support in July 2025, they are still safe and useful for regular daily use.
