Previously, it was rumored that Samsung could launch a new 200MP ISOCELL camera sensor later this year that will debut with its next year’s Galaxy S22 Ultra flagship smartphone. Recently, a famous tipster revealed that the company is not in a mood to participate in the megapixel race.

According to Ice Universe on Weibo, the upcoming Galaxy S22 Ultra will come with the Korean tech giant’s third-generation 108MP camera sensor (ISOCELL HM3) instead of the rumored 200MP image sensor. The tipster also said that the company will bring practical improvements instead of rising just MP numbers.

It’s worth mentioning that a 200MP sensor features smaller pixels in lower light sensitivity and higher noise, mostly in videos where pixel binning unable to work. Instead of improving the 108MP sensor, Samsung should use its recently launched ISOCELL GN2.
