Samsung Galaxy Watch and Watch Active gets select Galaxy Watch 3 features with a new update

Launched in August 2018, Samsung Galaxy Watch and Galaxy Watch Active come pre-installed with Tizen OS 4.0. Now, the company started rolling out a new software update for these older smartwatches that brings select features from the latest Galaxy Watch 3.

With this new firmware update, the Galaxy Watch and Watch Active users will be able to check the images in the notification from the connected smartphone. Moreover, it adds support for AR Emoji and Bitmoji that lets users send them through the smartwatch.

On the other hand, your Galaxy Watch/Watch Active will deliver voice guidance and workout tips through connected headsets. Adding to this, it also brings support for the scroll capture feature that helps the Galaxy Watches to automatically send the captured image of the screen to the paired smartphone.

Apart from this, the new Galaxy Watch and Watch Active firmware update brings improvements to the system stability in order to increase the overall user experience. Since it is initially rolling out in the US and South Korea, so we can expect that it will be available in other countries in the coming days/weeks.

This update comes with build versions: R810XXU1FUB6 and R500XXUF1UB5 for the Galaxy Watch and Watch Active respectively. Below, you can check how to update your Samsung wearable manually.

 

Here’s how to check for updates:

  • Launch Galaxy Wearable app.
  • Tap on Home > Watches software update.
  • Tap on Download and install.
  • Tap on Install now if an update is available.
