In February 2020, Samsung launched three new flagship smartphone in its S series lineup. The devices are Galaxy S20, S20+, and the Galaxy S20 Ultra. These devices come with outstanding hardware capabilities to called a true flagship smartphone.

Samsung has revealed the revolutionary new zoom feature with the launch of the Galaxy S20 series smartphones. With the introduction of this new technology, smartphones are capable of zoom in closer than ever before on a Galaxy phone.

What is Space Zoom?

Samsung Galaxy S20 and S20+ can utilize 30X Space Zoom, which pairs 3x Hybrid Optic Zoom up with 30x Super-Resolution Zoom.

The Galaxy S20 Ultra has 100X Space Zoom, which has 10x Hybrid Optic Zoom and 100x Super Resolution Zoom working together.

10x Hybrid Optical Zoom is enabled by a revolutionary folded lens on Galaxy S20 Ultra, bringing you closer than any other Galaxy phone. A high-resolution image sense powers both 3x and 10x Hybrid Optical Zoom and camera AI enhances Super-Resolution Zoom to let you zoom in close.

How to use Space Zoom!

To use Space Zoom on your Galaxy S20, S20+, or S20 Ultra, just open the Camera app, find something to zoom in on, and pinch in or swipe on the zoom bar to find moments you might have missed otherwise.

Note: The Galaxy S20’s Hybrid Optic Zoom combines a high-resolution image sensor and lens. Super Resolution Zoom includes digital zoom, which may cause some image deterioration.

Samsung insider IceUniverse revealed that the company has developed a 2x Portrait Mode for the Galaxy S23 Ultra. This mode pictures at 50-megapixel using the main 200-megapixel HP2 image sensor of the smartphone. It will benefit users who love taking portrait shots with depth effects.

  • On June 3rd, Ice said after seeing a 2x portrait shot by S23 Ultra, that it has exceeded his expectations.

HDR vignetting is another severe problem, which often appears on select Galaxy S23 series units, which could be fixed with the next OTA. Meanwhile, the tipster has not directly claimed fixes for bananagate and photo blur-related issues on the Galaxy S23 and S23 Ultra.

In a recent development, the same source revealed yet another change, which is included in the June firmware. The company will be bringing updates to the video calling function as part of quality improvements for using third-party apps like WhatsApp and Telegram.
