Samsung appears to be developing Blood Sugar feature for the Galaxy Watch. The anticipation is backed by a recently published patent, which sheds light on behind-the-scenes developments Samsung is making for the feature.

A newly published European patent details a wearable system designed to learn from an external glucose measurement and use that information to calibrate the watch’s own biometric readings.

Published on September 9 as EP4803002A1, the patent describes a wearable device that combines sensor data with a blood glucose value measured by an external device.

At a suitable time, the wearable can prompt the user to take a glucose measurement using an external device. At the same time, its own sensors collect biometric signals.

Samsung’s system then combines both sets of information to generate calibration data. That calibration could eventually allow the wearable to estimate glucose values from biometric signals without requiring an external reading every time.

The patent does not, however, identify a specific Galaxy Watch or guarantee that the technology will reach a commercial product.

The patent arrives alongside stronger evidence that Samsung has not abandoned its long-running glucose-monitoring ambitions. Samsung is also studying how combining data from a Galaxy Watch and Galaxy Ring could improve measurement accuracy.

The patent provides an interesting glimpse into how Samsung could approach one of the biggest challenges in wearable health technology, but it does not confirm a blood sugar feature for the next Galaxy Watch.

Samsung’s first clip-on-style Galaxy Buds appear to be getting closer to their official debut. The upcoming earbuds, reportedly called the Galaxy Buds On, have now cleared a key regulatory step in the US, suggesting that Samsung’s new audio product could launch soon.

The SM-U600, believed to be the Galaxy Buds On, received FCC equipment authorization on September 15. The filing identifies the device as a Bluetooth headset from Samsung and confirms that it operates across the 2.4GHz Bluetooth band.

FCC approval does not confirm a launch date, but it removes an important regulatory hurdle for selling the device in the US. It also arrives shortly after detailed leaks revealed the earbuds’ design, making an announcement increasingly plausible.

A very different Galaxy Buds design

Unlike Samsung’s conventional in-ear Galaxy Buds, the Galaxy Buds On are expected to use a clip-on, open-ear design. Leaked visuals show a two-part structure connected by a curved section that sits around the outer ear rather than sealing the ear canal. Samsung has yet to officially confirm the product or its final name.

The open design could make the earbuds more suitable for users who want to remain aware of their surroundings. However, it also means Samsung would need to address the usual audio challenges associated with open-ear products.

Recent leaks have pointed to features such as Auto Volume, Volume Boost and AI-assisted functions involving Bixby and Gemini. These could give the Galaxy Buds On a more distinct identity within Samsung’s growing wearable ecosystem.

With FCC certification now in place, Samsung may not have much left to do before bringing its first clip-on Galaxy Buds to the market.

Galaxy Buds T1 leak reveals ear-hook design and big battery

Samsung may soon launch a new pair of wireless earbuds made for people who love running and working out. The earbuds are internally called “T1” and have the model number SM-R545. They were earlier linked to the name Galaxy Buds Canal 5.

A new leak via SammyGuru has revealed some details about these earbuds. The leaked images show an ear-hook design. A small part of the earbuds will go around the ear. This could help keep the earbuds in place during running, exercise, and other physical activities.

The new earbuds may also come with an Earbud Fit Test. This feature could help users check whether the earbuds fit correctly and comfortably.

Samsung may offer touch controls on both earbuds. By default, users could press and hold the left earbud to lower the volume and the right earbud to increase it. These controls may also be changed to perform other actions, such as rejecting calls, changing noise-control modes, or opening voice assistants like Gemini and Bixby.

The leak also mentions an “Advanced quality options” menu. However, it is not clear which audio codecs the earbuds will support. The battery could be one of the biggest highlights. Each earbud may have a 63mAh battery, while the charging case could have a large 595mAh battery.

Samsung has not officially announced these earbuds yet. Their final name, price, launch date, and battery life are still unknown. Stay tuned for more information.

Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Buds On, previously spotted under the internal codename “Able,” has now surfaced in much clearer form, giving us our first proper look at the hardware design and some of the features.

The Galaxy Buds On use a clip-on design built around two rounded sections connected by a flexible-looking loop. The larger section sits inside the ear’s concha, while the flatter outer section rests against the outside of the ear.

The leaked material (courtesy of SammyGuru) currently shows a black version, although Samsung appears to be preparing a white option as well.

The Galaxy Buds On is expected to support head gestures similar to those introduced with the Galaxy Buds 4 earbuds. Users should be able to control certain actions by nodding or shaking their head.

An Auto Volume option could automatically raise or lower playback volume depending on surrounding noise.

Samsung is also preparing a Volume Boost function, giving users another way to increase loudness. However, the open-style construction could result in more sound leakage at higher volumes.

AI integration is another focus

Users should be able to summon Gemini or Bixby through voice or touch, while a gesture can quickly start a voice memo. Those recordings can then be transcribed, with Bixby capable of searching through them on compatible Galaxy devices running One UI 8.5 or newer.

If you set up touch and hold controls as a voice recorder app, you can quickly start and stop voice recorder with your earbuds. Recorded voice memos are automatically converted to text, and you can call Bixby to search by voice without needing to take out your phone.

A sleep detection feature is also reportedly coming with One UI 9.0, allowing media playback to stop automatically after the user falls asleep. However, there is currently no indication of Active Noise Cancellation.

Samsung is preparing to take its AI glasses ambitions a step further, with a future model reportedly moving beyond cameras and voice controls to include a color display.

Credible news outlet TheElec reports that Samsung Electronics has asked Samsung Display to develop an ultra-small micro display for its upcoming AI glasses.

It seems the Korean tech giant is targeting a panel small enough to fit inside a conventional eyeglass frame while still delivering useful visual information directly to the wearer.

The glasses are expected to focus on practical elements such as notifications, text, icons and navigation directions. The company is also considering whether the display should sit in front of one eye or both.

Samsung is reportedly evaluating both OLEDoS and LEDoS technologies. Samsung’s approach appears more focused on placing useful information across the front viewing area, while keeping the smartphone as the primary computing device.

The timing could put Samsung in direct competition with Meta’s display-equipped smart glasses.

This would also build on Samsung’s first AI glasses, expected later this year, which are being developed with Google and eyewear partners without an integrated display.

Samsung has introduced new health features for its latest smartwatches, the Galaxy Watch 9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2. The company says these features are designed to help people notice health problems early and take better care of themselves.

The main feature of these watches is the Heart Health Score. It gives users a score from 0 to 100. The score is based on sleep, physical activity, stress on blood vessels, and Body Mass Index (BMI). It follows health guidelines from the American Heart Association. If the watch detects high stress on the blood vessels, it can give users advice to improve their lifestyle.

There’s also a Vital Sign feature. When users wear the watch while sleeping, it checks five important health signs: heart rate, heart rate variability, blood oxygen, skin temperature, and breathing rate.

The watch learns each person’s normal health range. If it notices unusual changes, it can send an alert. These changes may be linked to drinking alcohol, tiredness or working too much. The watch can also use its ECG sensor to detect ectopic beats, which are unusual or early heartbeats.

Samsung has been adding health features to its watches for many years. It first introduced heart-rate monitoring in 2014 and later added blood pressure, ECG, and irregular heart rhythm monitoring.

The company said many of the new features use software and advanced algorithms, so older models such as the Galaxy Watch 8 may also receive them through software updates. However, Samsung has not announced when its non-invasive continuous glucose monitoring feature will be available.
