A number of Android smartphone users reported that the Smart Lock options are no longer accessible. Earlier, a Samsung community moderator acknowledged the issue and today confirmed that the Google Play Services update will bring back Smart Lock features next week.

According to the Samsung community’s GMS in charge, the Smart Lock features failure is a widespread issue. The team gathered consumer reports and forwarded them to Google for investigation and solutions. Thankfully, Google has fixed server feature errors and App logic errors.

Since Smart Lock is a GMS server feature, it has been distributed with modifications, and the modified version of the App is scheduled to start rolling out next week.  It’s expected that Pixel phone users will get the new Google Play Services app update earlier than Samsung.

Google Play Services app 23.16.xx will be updated automatically, bringing back the Smart Lock features to Samsung and other affected Android devices. Meanwhile, the issue can be temporarily resolved by rebooting your Galaxy device once or twice.

Samsung consumers may have thought that the Smart Lock feature became inaccessible after installing the April 2023 security patch. However, it’s an issue generated because of errors in Google’s Android server feature and app logic errors.

It’s worth mentioning that the new version of Google Play Services will be installed on your Galaxy phone in the background. Meanwhile, we suggest you reboot your smartphone as soon as you get to know that the corresponding version has been installed.
