MediaTek has officially introduced a new 4nm processor named Dimensity 7200 for future mid-range phones. This chipset boasts power savings alongside a focus on both gaming and photography.

The 4nm process MediaTek used in the Dimensity 7200 is the same installed in the Dimensity 9200 series. The chipset is loaded with two Cortex-A715 cores with a peak frequency of 2.8GHz and six Cortex-A510 cores.

In addition to this, it packs Mali G610 MC4 GPU that handles visuals. This GPU is quite similar to the G710 found in the Dimensity 9000, however, with fewer shader cores.

Moreover, the Dimensity 7200 can power a Full HD display featuring up to 144Hz refresh rate. On the other hand, it supports HDR10+, CUVA HDR, Dolby HDR, up to 6400Mbps memory, and UFC 3.1 storage for fast loading.

The company further claims that the processor uses a 14-bit HDR ISP that supports 4K HDR video capture. It can be installed in phones having up to a 200MP primary camera. Also, it can capture two video streams up to full HD each.

Furthermore, MediaTek’s HyperEngine 5.0 allows the SoC for AI-based Variable Rate Shading. And, the integrated APU brings a bunch of AI-powered camera enhancements, such as real-time portrait beautification to it.

Last but not least, the new mid-range MediaTek processor supports 5G sub-6GHz with up to 4.7Gbps downlink, 2CC Carrier Aggregation alongside Dual 5G SIM, as well as both triband Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3.

Dimensity 7200 debuting next month:

MediaTek Dimensity will first debut in a 5G Android smartphone in the first quarter of this year, that’s within the next month. Currently, none of the Android smartphone makers has officially announced to bring a mid-range smartphone using this chipset next month. We’ll have to wait and see which phone will get this advanced mid-range processor.

Samsung HBM3E Nvidia approval

NVIDIA approved Samsung HBM3 memory chips for GPUs made for China. Reuters revealed in their exclusive report that Samsung passed NVIDIA’s verification test for its fourth generation of high bandwidth memory chips.

According to the report, the Samsung HBM3 chip secured long-awaited approval from NVIDIA. The greenlight isn’t full-fledged as HBM3 will only be used in a less advanced processor, the H20, designed for the Chinese market, at least for now.

Reuters sources claim whether Samsung’s HBM3 memory chips will be used in other processors is unconfirmed. It’s worth noting that NVIDIA exclusively designs less sophisticated processors for China given US export sanctions.

Pay attention, the company is still verifying the fifth-gen HBM chips. The HBM3E will likely be used in NVIDIA’s latest graphic processor units, like the H200. SK Hynix already got approval and has supplied HBM3E since the beginning of the year.

First produced in 2013, HBM is a type of DRAM that contains vertically stacked chips to save space and reduce power consumption. It’s a key component for AI GPUs, which helps process massive amounts of data produced by complex applications.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6

The inner screen of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 allegedly broke within a day. SamSWUpdate on X posted an image of the alleged Z Fold 6 smartphone. The handset’s main/inner screen is no longer functional signaling a manufacturing problem.

As shown in the image, the left part of the inner screen has broken. A green screen overlay appeared on the half portion of the foldable panel. It seems to be an OLED flaw, rendering Samsung’s most premium smartphone useless.

While detailed information regarding the incident is not available, we expect the consumer to get the unit replaced FOC. The fault may have appeared because of the initial production unit, as it usually happens in Samsung’s case, even though we had a similar experience with Fold 4.

Thanks to the purchase policy, Samsung would provide a replacement to the affected consumer. The incident would have ruined the consumer’s experience but it wouldn’t have been disastrous if the unit got damaged due to a manufacturing defect.

Samsung officially introduced the Galaxy Z Fold 6 on July 10 in Paris. The company has also announced the Galaxy Z Flip 6 foldable phone, Galaxy Watch Ultra and Watch 7, Galaxy Buds 3 and Buds 3 Pro, and Galaxy Ring.

The company confirmed general availability to begin on July 24. However, shipment of pre-order units is already underway in select markets. Today is the last day for pre-orders, which is advantageous for potential buyers in many ways.
