Software updates do not every time bring novelties for mobile devices! A ridiculous firmware update destroyed thousands of Galaxy smartphones’ data in Australia and Samsung is currently investigating it. And, consumers have no other option than a factory reset to get access back.

According to DailyMail report, a recent Samsung firmware update broke thousands of Galaxy devices in Australia. Users of affected devices lost access from the time when they clicked the Restart now button to install the latest firmware update.

The company has reportedly recommended consumers avoid installing the new firmware update, and started to investigate the reason behind this critical damage. Since users can access the phone only after a factory reset, they have naturally lost all the photos, contacts and documents stored in storage.

As of now, there’s no authentic information regarding the affected models or any other kind of identity. Meanwhile, the company reportedly stated that the buggy firmware affected only South Australian units. “Samsung has received reports from customers of an issue when updating their phones,” the company said in a statement.

“At this time, these reports are from customers based in South Australia only. We are continuing to investigate this matter.”

Samsung, so far, managed to impressively deploy the Android 13 update without any kind of major harm on Galaxy devices. However, it seems like a technical error or something else, that to be investigated, but not a good thing for Samsung as the Galaxy S23 series is likely to go official next month.
