Shortly after unveiling its new Material You Design language at I/O 2021, Google began rolling out design changes to its applications based on new guidelines. With the stable release of Android 12 for Google Pixels right there, the company has significantly increased its release of Material You.

In the recent Material You updates for Google Assistant, Google Photos, Google Duo, and Google Drive. There are also Google Keep Material You updates for Google Keep, then Google Messages and Google Podcasts. Now it seems that Google Play Store is the next to get Material You dynamic color theming on Android 12.

The Google Play Store update seems to be being released for other people now and supports vibrant colors. Obviously, a server-side switch can also take a while to get downloaded to everyone, so the version of your Google Play Store app won’t make a difference.

You can surely make it much easier for you to get an update by making sure you’re in the latest version of the app, but that’s all you can do. There are no updates on Google Pixel 5 using the latest beta for Android 12.

In the color-coded feature, Material You’s dynamic colors feature makes use of monet, a new theme engine introduced on Android 12 – and currently exclusively for Pixel phones, to extract colors from your background image and produce a rich pastel color palette.

Apps can then apply these colors to their UI in a variety of ways, which is what apps include the things you usually do. Dynamic color support is one of the most exciting things from Material You, as it makes the design of each app feel personal. It also maintains consistency in all apps and makes your smartphone experience feel more integrated.
