Samsung Galaxy S9 and Note 9 at Verizon get August 2021 update

Samsung and Verizon, together, started sending new firmware update for the Galaxy S9, Galaxy S9+, and Galaxy Note 9 devices in the US, which equips the brand new security patch released in August 2021.

According to the Verizon support pages, the new update for the Galaxy S9, Galaxy S9+, and Galaxy Note 9 handsets don’t bring any new features or noticeable system optimizations. You can check the changelog of this update below.

What’s changing:

  • The current software update provides the most up-to-date Android security patches on your device.

Software Versions:

  • Galaxy S9 – G960USQS9FUG2
  • Galaxy S9 Plus – G965USQS9FUG2
  • Galaxy Note 9 – N960USQS9FUG2

Note: T-Mobile also released the August 2021 security patch to the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ devices in the US. The update packages sport the same build numbers as the Verizon-locked devices.

Galaxy S9, S9+ and Note 9 August update details

Starting August, Samsung confirmed, this month’s security bulletin, which details this update brings fixes for 38 CVEs from Google (including 3 critical) and 8 SVEs from Samsung in order to enhance the overall device stability.

Check for updates manually

In order to check for the updates manually, just open your device’s Settings, find and tap on the Software updates menu, wait until the phone detects a new OTA update, and finally tapping on Download and install.
