Samsung Galaxy S20 gets August 2021 security update globally

Samsung has begun sending a new firmware update to the Galaxy S20 series smartphone users in select European countries. The latest Galaxy S20 update brings the most up-to-date August 2021 security patch from Samsung in order to enhance the overall device security.

Users can identify the update via PDA firmware versions: G981BXXU9DUH2, G986BXXU9DUH2, and G988BXXU9DUH2 for the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20 Plus, and Galaxy S20 Ultra respectively. Currently, the update rollout is taking place in Germany, which could be expanded in the coming days.

According to the changelog of the Galaxy S20’s August 2021 update, it doesn’t bring anything other than security improvements. Though it enhances the system functions as well as stock applications for a better overall user experience.

Starting August, the South Korean tech giant revealed, this month’s security bulletin, which details this update brings fixes for 38 CVEs from Google (including 3 critical) and 8 SVEs from Samsung in order to enhance the overall device stability.

This year, the phone maker seems to be rapidly working to begin the Android 12-based One UI 4.0 Beta program for eligible Galaxy devices. However, the Beta activity is expected to be launched in September, followed by a stable release later this year.

Check for updates manually

In order to check for the updates manually, just open your device’s Settings, find and tap on the Software updates menu, wait until the phone detects a new OTA update, and finally tapping on Download and install.
