August 13 | *Update* Galaxy S20 series smartphone users in Europe are now receiving the latest August 2021 security update. Check firmware versions below, followed by changelog and manual download steps.

  • Galaxy S20 – G981BXXU9DUH2
  • Galaxy S20 Plus – G986BXXU9DUH2
  • Galaxy S20 Ultra – G988BXXU9DUH2

August 5 | *Update* Galaxy Note 20 Series: Just after the Galaxy S20 series, the US unlocked Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra has also started receiving the same treatment with the August 2021 security update in the US. The firmware version of the update is N981U1UES2DUG1 and N986U1UES2DUG1 for Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra respectively.

*Old story* Galaxy S20 Series: The Galaxy S20 series is now receiving a new software update, which brings the latest Android and One UI security patches from Samsung. Initially, the August 2021 update is making its way to the unlocked Galaxy S20 devices in the US.

According to the info, the August 2021 update comes with release numbers: G988U1UES2DUG6, G986U1UES2DUG6, and G981U1UES2DUG6 for the Galaxy S20 Ultra, Galaxy S20+, and Galaxy S20 respectively.

Samsung is swiftly working to begin the Android 12-based One UI 4.0 Beta program for eligible Galaxy devices. Well, the US unlocked variants will also be able to taste the next major One UI update ahead of its stable release, which is expected later this year.

You can check for the updates manually by opening your device’s Settings, finding and selecting the Software updates menu, waiting until the phone detects a new OTA update, and finally tapping on Download and install.

Samsung May 2024 update list

Even while extending the One UI 6.1 update to more devices, Samsung has not forgotten to release the monthly patch. The company initiated the May 2024 security patch rollout with the Galaxy S24 series and then released it for other devices, which you can see in the list below.

The Korean tech giant is regularly working to ensure that all compatible Galaxy devices will receive the latest security update soon. The May 2024 patch addresses 45 vulnerabilities including 33 identified by Google, with 3 Critical and 26 High-level CVEs. Additionally, there are 25 fixes specific to Samsung.

Throughout this month, Samsung plans to upgrade several eligible devices to the One UI 6.1 software. The update has been rolled out to the Galaxy Z Fold 4, Fold 4, Flip 3, Fold 3, Galaxy S22 series, S21 series, Galaxy A33, A54, A34, and A73 smartphones. More devices are expected to receive the update shortly.

Samsung has updated its Galaxy Tab Active 5 with the major One UI 6.1 software to make it more secure and smarter. The update is initially rolling out in South Korea and the company will soon expand it.
