Samsung Galaxy Note 20 gets July 2021 security update [Rolling out in India]

Update [India]: Samsung started sending the July 2021 security update to the Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra users in India. The latest software update comes with PDA version numbers N981BXXU2DUF8 and N986BXXU2DUF8 for the Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra respectively.

July 06, 2021: Samsung pushed a new software update for the Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra flagship smartphones in Europe. The latest update comes with the most up-to-date July 2021 Android and One UI security patch for better device stability.

As of now, this update is spotted in just Germany (DBT region), sporting firmware versions: N986BXXU2DUF8 and N981BXXU2DUF8 for the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G and Galaxy Note 20 5G respectively. We are expecting that the company should not take too much time to expand its reach to more markets.

Again, we have the official changelog of the new Galaxy Note 20 series update, which mentions just “The security of your device has been improved.” It means, the latest OTA only brings improvements to the system security and user’s privacy.

Still, we are waiting for the Korean tech giant’s July 2021 security bulletin that clears the exact CVE fixes from Google and Samsung for Galaxy devices. As the first week of this month is going to end tomorrow, the company will release the bulleting anytime.

Recently, Samsung released the July 2021 security patch update to the Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy S20 series as well as Galaxy A52 devices in which the mid-range smartphone received a new remaster image feature. At the same time, the Galaxy S20 update focuses on Camera performance improvements.

How to check for update manually?

As always, just open your device’s Settings, scroll down then tap on the Software updates menu. Wait for update checking and hit the Download and install button if the device recognizes a new OTA update.
