Samsung leads IPlytics’ 5G Standard Essential Patent shares race

Back in 2020, Samsung led in 5G patents as a result of its research and development of 5G standards and technologies. Now, the company announced that it has ranked first in 5G Standard Essential Patent (SEP) shares, according to ‘IPlytics‘. The IPlytics is a Berlin-based market intelligence firm comprised of economists, scientists, and engineers.

On the other hand, the Korean phone maker secured the second rank in two other categories including share of 5G granted and active patent families, and share of 5G granted and active patent families with at least one of them granted by the EPO (European Patent Office) or USPTO (the United States Patent and Trademark Office).

It is worth mentioning that Samsung has established the successful delivery of 5G end-to-end solutions including chipsets, radios, and core. The company is currently providing connectivity to hundreds of millions of users around the world.
