Samsung Galaxy S25+: Everything You Need to Know – Specs, Release Date and Features

Samsung Galaxy S25+ (Plus) promises Ultra-equivalent hardware and an elegant yet appealing design. In most aspects, the Plus model is similar to its Ultra counterpart such as display, battery, charging, and performance.

Galaxy S25+ (Plus) is set to launch early next year with notable upgrades over the S24+. The phone will be a good choice for those who need robust performance, a decent camera, top-notch display without a tablet-like form factor.

The new Snapdragon processor and enhanced Galaxy AI capabilities are the most noteworthy upgrades in the next-gen Galaxy S flagships. These upgrades will ensure taking your Galaxy experiences to a whole new level.

S24 Plus is the least-selling model in the Galaxy S24 series this year. Things won’t dramatically change with the Galaxy S25+ next year, but the Plus has a solid fanbase, which continues to upgrade its device within an appropriate period.

This upcoming Samsung device will have plenty to offer over its predecessor in specs, design, and performance, and here’s everything you need to know.

Galaxy S25+ Display

  • Size – 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED
  • Resolution – QHD+
  • Refresh Rate – 1-120Hz (adaptive refresh rate)

The S25 line’s middle child is said to feature a 6.7-inch (6.66-inch) Dynamic AMOLED screen. Samsung ditched curved panels from the base and Plus models starting in 2021.

Flat panels offer enhanced longevity as compared to curved screens. The flat panel was also a reason for S Plus sales until the company turned panels to flat in the S24 Ultra this year.

The phone will source its Dynamic AMOLED display from Samsung. It is said to be utilizing an M13+ material set, providing a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate and vibrant color production system.

Galaxy S25+ Design

  • Shape – Rectangular design with rounded corners, flat frame
  • Material – Aluminum

Samsung’s next flagships apparently feature iPhonified design. Leaked CAD renders reveal that the S25 Plus won’t get major design changes. However, the frame is going flat, kind of angular – matching the iPhone appearance.

The angular frame will offer a refreshed feel in hand, which is hard to explain in words. The refined design is aimed at up-leveling the smartphone’s handling and usability.

There’s a possibility that the S25 Plus’s rear camera arrangement will be the same. However, the sensors could feature a design bump, combined with two differently sized rings.

The bottom ring, attached to the rear panel, will be slightly smaller than the top ring. The top ring could be more than the sensor’s size while surrounded by a Z Fold6-like textured design.

Credible leaker Evan Blass recently leaked the official color options of the Galaxy S25 lineup. In particular, the S25 Plus will be available in Sparkling color shades of –

  • Blue Black
  • Coral Red
  • Icy Blue
  • Mint
  • Navy
  • Pink Gold

The list also includes colorways that will only be sold from the official Samsung online shop.

Galaxy S25+ Performance

  • Chipset – Snapdragon 8 Elite (3nm)
  • Performance – 45%+ from 8 Gen 3
  • Exynos 2500 – Unlikely
  • RAM – 12GB
  • Storage – 256GB, 512GB

Samsung tried to use Exynos 2500 in the Galaxy S25 and S25 Plus next year. However, the low-yield rate has reportedly ruined Samsung’s dreams to commercialize its in-house chip.

Meanwhile, Qualcomm introduced its new Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, which is fabricated using TSMC’s 3nm process node and improves CPU performance by 45% and power efficiency by 44%.

To foster AI, Qualcomm has also equipped with Snapdragon 8 Elite with enhanced Hexagon NPU that improves AI task handling by 45% and 45% better performance per watt.

In terms of graphics, the chipset uses an enhanced Adreno GPU that reportedly unlocks a huge 40% improvement in performance and 40% power efficiency while conducting graphics-intensive tasks.

RAM and Storage

Samsung could launch the Galaxy S25 Plus in 256Gb and 512Gb variants with 12Gb of RAM.

Galaxy S25+ AI

  • NPU – Snapdragon Hexagon NPU
  • Context window – 4,000
  • Tokens rate – 70+ tokens/second

The Galaxy S24 series amazed the industry with imaginable AI capabilities. However, the Snapdragon 8 Elite will make the Galaxy S25 series a champion in the AI Phone segment.

The new chip offers more powerful AI features with its Hexagon NPU. It supports on-device multimodal and GenAI assistants to boost AI task-handling speed.

Samsung has recently teased many generative AI features with One UI 7 Beta such as AI writing assist tools. You can use these features to improve productivity while saving time and manual effort.

Galaxy S25+ Software

  • Software – One UI 7 (Android 15)
  • Upgrades – 7 Years of Operating System (OS) and Security Updates

Samsung’s next flagship will be insured with 7 years of OS and security updates. The S25 series will continue to receive the latest software updates until January 2031.

Continuous software updates will ensure your device runs and functions smoothly. OS upgrades will keep the phone refreshed with new and useful features from the forthcoming flagships.

The S25+ will boot One UI 7.1 out of the box with various new Galaxy AI features. Compared to One UI 6, the new iteration has a tweaked user interface, enhanced experience, and many new features.

Galaxy S25+ Camera

  • Main – 50MP camera
  • Ultra Wide – 12MP camera
  • Telephoto – 10MP camera with 3x Optical and 30x Digital zoom
  • LED flash – Yes

Samsung will use its 50-megapixel sensor for a straight fourth time in a row. The main camera of the Galaxy S25+ is literally the same one that was shipped in the Galaxy S22 Plus in 2022.

The sensor’s performance is expected to be elevated – thanks to Galaxy AI and Snapdragon chip. It is expected to offer 2x optical quality zoom and enhanced nightography performance.

The main camera will be accompanied by two more sensors on the rear side. There will be a 12-megapixel ultrawide and a 10-megapixel telephoto with 3x optical zoom feature.

Galaxy AI is said to bring an AI Zoom to deliver clearer shots even when captured zoomed. The One UI 7 update brings AI Zoom to Galaxy phones that sound like the one Google debuted in Pixel 9.

Galaxy S25+ Battery

  • Capacity – 4900mAh Battery
  • Charging – 45W Super Fast wired charging

Samsung upgraded the battery capacity of the Galaxy S24 and S24 Plus compared to their predecessors. The Galaxy S24 Plus’ 4900mAh battery will be replicated in the upcoming Galaxy S25 Plus.

It’s just 100mAh sort of the S25 Ultra, which should offer decent performance. As the chip is built on a 3nm process, power efficiency is improved significantly.

After camera megapixels and screen brightness (nits), Chinese phone makers have jumped to aggressively market their products with huge battery cells installed.

Samsung is sticking to its conventional strategy of gradual upgrades gen-over-gen. In practice, the S25 Plus with a 4900mAh battery will beat all of its rivals even having larger batteries.

Galaxy S25+ Price

  • Price – $999 ($1099 if price hike)

Galaxy S24 Plus starts at $999 with 256Gb of internal storage in the US. As the Exynos plan has almost failed, the Galaxy S25 Plus should use the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset internationally.

Increased costs of TSMC and Snapdragon chips would force Samsung to consider increasing pricing, and if it doesn’t, the company’s operating profit will be impacted due to cost burden.

Galaxy S25+ Release Date

  • Release Date – January 22, 2025 (Highly possible).

A leaked official-like asset disclosed that the Unpacked event will be held on January 22, 2025. The venue could be San Francisco, most likely, in the United States.

The Korean tech giant will launch the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25 Plus, and Galaxy S25 Ultra. Possibly teasing products could be the Galaxy XR Smart Glasses and Galaxy S25 Slim.
