First Galaxy Z Fold 8 screen crack and Samsung’s refusal to ‘honor the warranty’
Probably the first case of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 has emerged, with the consumer alleging Samsung has refused to “honor the warranty.”
Galaxy Z Fold 8 has been in the headlines since Samsung unveiled it in August 2026. The company’s new foldable phone introduces a revamped form factor. Sales continue to spike, but the durability concerns have started to haunt owners.
First Galaxy Z Fold 8 screen crack
We are seeing the first case of Galaxy Z Fold 8 screen and hinge crack this week. A US-based owner shared his personal experience in the Members Community. The bad news is that Samsung has reportedly declined to offer a free warranty repair.
Samsung’s new foldable phone introduces Armor FlexHinge technology. There are some trade-offs compared to previous generations, but Samsung claims the new solution withstands up to 500,000 fold cycles, nearly three years.
Meanwhile, the incident shared by an owner changes the perspective, or it might just be bad luck.
A Galaxy Z Fold 8 owner approached Samsung Service Center with a nightmare: their phone’s inner screen and crease have been cracked. There’s no sign of a drop or physical damage, nor water ingress, but the worst has happened.
What made it even worse: the alleged response (via SammyGuru) of Samsung’s service center, “this is physical damage, voiding the limited warranty.”
Galaxy Z Fold 8 costs as much as $2,000 in the US and one who spent such a huge chunk of money couldn’t be so careless in handling. Also, the images posted by the user show no dents or signs of damage that would void the warranty.
Sadly, the user returned home without proper support. If they had Samsung Care+ subscribed, the phone would still be repaired. Otherwise, reaching out to a higher authority through communication should be the next move for repair.
