One UI 8.5 animations feel smoother than iOS 27 Beta right now
Apple yesterday shipped the first iOS 27 Developer Beta, which features app animations identical to its previous version. Comparing side-by-side, the animations of One UI 8.5 feel smoother than the iOS 27 Beta, for now.
Samsung leaker IceUniverse has been comparing the two, and the observations are worth noting for anyone following both platforms closely.
Tapping an app icon on iOS 27 (Developer Beta 1) does not trigger an instant response. There is a slight delay before the animation actually begins, which makes the overall interaction feel a step behind.
The app animations in iOS 27 are not significantly different from those in iOS 26, and some long-standing issues are still present.
Opening apps or heading back to the home screen in One UI 8.5 (official version) feels closely tied to actual finger movement. The transitions are immediate, the motion feels consistent, and nothing appears to lag behind the input.
One UI 8.5, on the other hand, delivers top-tier performance, especially after my own tuning and optimization.
This level of responsiveness is something Samsung has been refining over recent One UI versions, and 8.5 seems to carry that forward noticeably.
You can watch the video below:
Let's compare the app opening and closing animations in iOS 27 Beta 1 and One UI 8.5.

Before we wrap up, comparing a Stable One UI build to an early iOS Beta is not entirely apples-to-apples. Apple typically irons out performance rough edges well into the Beta, but the animation delay IceUniverse points to in iOS 27 is not new behavior; it has persisted across versions, which is what makes it worth paying attention to this time around as well.
Whether Apple addresses it before iOS 27 goes public remains to be seen.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8, Fold 8 and Fold 8 Ultra enter final stretch before launch
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8 (Wide), and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra have cleared a major certification hurdle ahead of launch.
The Korean tech giant is preparing three foldable phones for 2026. The lineup reportedly includes a flip phone and two book-style foldables. The company has also revamped its naming strategy for the next foldable lineup.
Galaxy Z Fold 8 would feature wide cover and main screens. It was earlier rumored to launch as the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide, but Samsung plans differently. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra will be a true successor to the Galaxy Z Fold 7.
Samsung is rumored to hold its Summer Unpacked in late July 2026. If supply chain reports are to be believed, the event would be held on July 22 in London. That said, the official reveal is roughly forty days away from now.
Galaxy Z Flip 8 obtains FCC certification [Update – June 9]
Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 8 has surfaced on the FCC database with the SM-F776U model number. The device has reportedly gone through an RF exposure test, specifically a SAR (Specific Absorption Rate) test report.
Galaxy Z Flip 8 and Fold 8 series clear BIS certification [Initial post]
Ahead of their official reveal, Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 8, Fold 8 Ultra, and Flip 8 have cleared the BIS certification in India. This milestone hands the three foldables a mandatory regulatory approval for official release in the market.
Our friends over at SammyGuru spotted Samsung’s unreleased SM-F776B, SM-F-971B and SM-F976B models on the BIS database.

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy SoC will power the upcoming Samsung foldables. The clamshell model, which is rumored to be the last of its kind, is slated to bring Exynos 2600 chips to certain markets.
Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is reportedly getting a 5000mAh battery with 45W charging support. The camera system is staying the same, which should have been improved to justify the company’s decision to slap the Ultra tag.

Samsung Galaxy S27 reportedly appears in official records
Samsung Galaxy S27 has just reportedly appeared in official GSMA records, and we are over six months away from the official unveiling.
This year, Samsung’s product pipeline is kicking faster. Whether it’s software or hardware, the upcoming products are gearing up faster than before. After a One UI 9 streak, the Galaxy S27 has made its first appearance in records.
Galaxy S27 emerges on GSMA database
Samsung is working on SM-S952U model, which should be the standard Galaxy S27. The device will launch early next year along with three more siblings: the Galaxy S27 Plus, Galaxy S27 Pro, and Galaxy S27 Ultra.
Erencan Yılmaz of SmartPrix has just discovered this massive development. GSMA’s listing of an upcoming product doesn’t reveal much information. The website just features the model number and the maker of the device.
What we interpret from the listing is that the Galaxy S27 is already in the works. While the industry is gearing up for Summer Unpacked, Samsung is already working on the 2027 flagship smartphone lineup inside its labs.
Galaxy S27 series will launch in the first quarter of next year. The event should take place in late January or early February. Apple is aligning its iPhone 18 launch with Samsung’s S series, so changes are likely in Samsung’s plan.
Samsung is adding a Pro version to next year’s Galaxy S lineup. The device would have a compact-sized screen of around 6.5 inches. Inside, it would be powered by a Snapdragon chip and a 5000mAh battery like the S27 Ultra.
Software-wise, the Galaxy S27 series is expected to ship with Android 17-based One UI 9.5. The upcoming foldables would be shipping with One UI 9.0 official version on top of Android 17.

Samsung Galaxy S26 FE has a problem with camera island
The Galaxy S26 FE is still likely a few months away from its official debut, but thanks to a newly surfaced Wireless Power Consortium listing, we may have already gotten our first real-world look at Samsung’s next Fan Edition phone and its camera bump.
The listing, associated with model number SM-S741, reveals what appears to be the Galaxy S26 FE in the flesh. While the overall design doesn’t stray far from Samsung’s current formula, one detail immediately caught my attention.
Samsung appears to be abandoning the floating camera ring design that has become a familiar sight across much of its smartphone lineup. In its place is a raised camera island that looks heavily inspired by the Galaxy S26 series.
Looking at the leaked image, the camera housing seems positioned unusually close to both the top edge and the left side of the frame. Instead of being neatly integrated into the rear panel, the entire module appears to be squeezed into the corner.
The Galaxy S26 FE doesn’t look bad. Far from it, but based on this early leak, the new camera island lacks the visual balance that made Samsung’s recent designs feel polished.
Rumors currently point to the Galaxy S26 FE featuring Samsung’s Exynos 2500 processor alongside 8GB of RAM. The device is also expected to ship with the latest One UI 9 atop Android 17 straight out of the box.

Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide to feature Samsung’s sharpest display, beating the Fold 7 and TriFold
Samsung phones are always praised for their premium display quality. While the company is avoiding a major OLED upgrade, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide is now rumored to feature Samsung’s sharpest foldable display ever.
Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide screen details leaked
Galaxy Z Fold 8 (Wide) could come with the sharpest foldable display Samsung has ever shipped, via IceUniverse. The phone’s cover screen could deliver 432 PPI density (pixel per inch), while the main screen is 403 PPI (pixel per inch).
To recall, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 comes with a 422 PPI cover display and a 368 PPI main display. Additionally, the company’s most expensive phone, the Galaxy Z TriFold, ships with a 422 PPI cover and 268 PPI main screen.
Enhanced pixel density will ensure the display delivers sharper details and colors. The improvements will reflect in everyday usage, including but not limited to photography, content streaming, and browsing.
Earlier, it was reported that Samsung is not utilizing its most advanced OLED material set in the next-gen foldable devices. The company is sticking to what it shipped last year as part of avoiding an additional cost burden this year.

As we approach the Unpacked, Samsung has reportedly reduced its sales targets for the upcoming foldables in 2026. The company has revised shipment ambitions, reducing both successors, while ramping up the Wide model targets.
Supply chain revealed the latest targets, which are as follows:
- Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra: 2.0 million to 2.5 million units
- Galaxy Z Flip 8: around 1.5 million to 2.0 million units
- Galaxy Z Fold 8 (Wide): around 1.5 million to 2.0 million units
Galaxy Unpacked event could be held on July 22 in London. The company would reveal three foldable phones, three smartwatches, an Intelligent Eyewear (smart glasses), as well as the next-gen Ring and One UI 9 software.

Samsung may fit an Ultra-sized 5000mAh battery into Galaxy S27 Pro
Samsung Galaxy S27 Pro could launch with a 5000mAh battery, matching its Ultra sibling. The battery capacity rumor signals a massive technological breakthrough. If accurate, we could see the Ultra model outpacing the 5000mAh ceiling.
Galaxy S27 Pro is reportedly joining the Samsung flagship lineup next year, and it would surprise with its 5000mAh battery. The phone’s rumored screen size is 6.47 inches, which makes it a compact flagship phone.
Battery upgrades are some of the most demanded spec bumps by Galaxy users. Samsung fans want their flagship Galaxy phones to have larger battery cells and a wired charging that should be really fast, not that 25W.
The S27 Pro may also be impressive due to its charging support. The smartphone could support 45W wired charging, similar to the S25 Ultra. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S27 Ultra could retain the 60W charging, which debuted with the S26 Ultra.
With the battery size rumored to have increased, 25W would take much time to charge the cell. That said, the phone literally deserves a 45W charging support, which will assist users with their everyday routine.
Interestingly, the Korean tech giant might bring a 3.5x telephoto sensor to the Galaxy S27 Pro. It would offer better portrait pictures than the Galaxy S27 Ultra. The Ultra model may continue to bring the 5x telephoto legacy.
Galaxy S27 series will arrive in the first quarter of next year. Samsung is currently working on its next-gen foldables, watches, and the first-gen Intelligent Eyewear, which are set to be unveiled at next month’s Unpacked event.
