Samsung One UI 7 Quick Panel has two hidden features

Samsung One UI 7 Quick Panel

One UI 7 brought a brand-new Quick Settings and Notification Panel experience for Samsung devices, and it also contains some hidden features.

Samsung’s Quick Panel has a dedicated card that features a Brightness Slider, a Volume Slider, a Dark/Light mode toggle, and a Sound/Vibrate/Mute key. One UI 7 also has two big hidden features beneath this Quick Panel card.

Display and speaker adjustment sliders are the most used functions. Despite Adaptive Brightness, we tweak the brightness level quite often for quick optimization, the same case with built-in speakers for ringtones and media audio.

One UI 7 has expanded quick settings for brightness and sound, and effects.

How to access?

Here’s how you can access the hidden quick settings:

Brightness

Tapping and holding the “brightness slider” expands a bigger Brightness menu. It retains the brightness slider to adjust the screen brightness and a switch to Adaptive brightness.

Sound and effects

You can access the expanded Sound and effects by tapping and holding the “audio slider.” Unlike the Brightness section, the Sound and effects page has many useful adjustment tools, including:

  • Speaker volume slider
  • Dolby Atmos > Off, Auto, Movie, Music and Voice
  • Equalizer > Balanced, Bass boost, Smooth, Dynamic, Clear, Treble boost and Custom
  • Loudness normalization

Beyond the four options within the Sound and effects page, the Dolby Atmos and Equalizer drop-down menus feature quick additional options. These include:

  • Dolby Atmos > Off, Auto, Movie, Music, and Voice
  • Equalizer > Balanced, Bass boost, Smooth, Dynamic, Clear, Treble boost, and Custom

These two dedicated sections are super useful as they open on the fly. Tapping and holding the Dark mode or Audio buttons redirects to their root pages within Settings, making it less effortless than the expanded pages from sliders.

This is a basic upgrade that you may have accessed already. If you’re meeting them for the first time, do you like these useful pages within the quick settings?

Samsung Studio One UI 7 support

Samsung officially launched its latest foldable phones, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Fold 7, at the Galaxy Unpacked 2025 event. These new devices come with the latest software, One UI 8, based on Android 16. Along with many new improvements and features, One UI 8 introduces two powerful photo editing tools that take mobile photography to the next level.

These exciting new tools of One UI 8 have been added to Samsung’s Galaxy Enhance-X photo editing app. The two new features are Focus Shift and Crop & Upscale. They are designed to help users create professional-like photos with just a few taps.

Let’s know these new photo editing features in detail:

Focus Shift

The Focus Shift feature lets you change the focus of your photo with just one tap. Simply touch the subject you want to highlight, and the app will make that part of the image clear and sharp, while softly blurring the background.

It gives your photo a decent depth effect and makes your subject stand out. It’s perfect for portrait photos, product shots, or any picture where you want to draw attention to one part.

Crop & Upscale

Crop & Upscale uses smart AI technology to zoom in and improve the quality of your photos. You can crop any part of your image, and the app will increase the size and sharpness, up to 5 times the resolution.

It means you can zoom in without losing clarity. This feature makes your photos look clean and detailed even after cropping.

These two tools are available now in the Galaxy Enhance-X app version 15.3.06. But they only live on the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Fold 7 for now.

Samsung has confirmed that these features will be rolled out to other Galaxy devices starting after July 30 through app updates. However, the exact Samsung model details are still unclear. Stay tuned for more information.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra Gray and White

Even after the stable version release with the latest foldables, Samsung is reportedly planning to release a new beta update for the Galaxy S25 series. Users are now excited to know when the One UI 8 Beta 4 update will be released.

Samsung may roll out the One UI 8 Beta 4 update in early next week. This new beta version is expected to fix bugs and improve performance based on feedback from earlier versions.

If all goes as planned, Beta 4 could arrive soon, possibly on Monday, which will bring smoother performance and increased stability to your Galaxy S25 device. However, Samsung hasn’t confirmed anything, but we can just hope until its release.

Let’s take a quick look back:

28 May 2025: Samsung started the One UI 8 Beta Program for the Galaxy S25 series in select countries.

June 12: One UI 8 Beta 2 was released, fixing several issues. It expands the beta program to more countries, including India and Poland.

June 30: One UI 8 Beta 3 rolled out with bug fixes.

July 19: Now, we’re expecting Beta 4 soon.

Even though many users hoped for the stable version by now, the arrival of a fourth beta suggests Samsung wants to ensure everything runs perfectly before the final release. The stable update for the Galaxy S25 series is now expected to arrive by late July 2025.

Other Galaxy models, including the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Flip 6, and Galaxy Z Fold 6, could start receiving One UI 8 from early August.

Confirmed: Samsung disabled core Android Updates in One UI 8 Beta

Samsung Knox Security

Android devices regularly receive new Google Play System Updates, which Samsung users may have been missing in One UI 8 Beta. With users reporting issues updating the Play System version, Samsung moderators confirmed it’s not a bug.

Samsung and Google have agreed to disable the Play System Updates function in the One UI 8 Beta Program. Users are still able to download and update their apps from the Play Store, and app scanning features are also active.

So if you have faced problems like “Updates are temporarily unavailable. Try again later.” – It’s not a bug. The deactivation of these updates is intentional and temporary, with the official build will surely resume Play System Updates.

The Beta moderator also confirmed that there’s no need to worry about security and privacy. Google Play System Updates are indeed disabled, but the system is still protected as before, as it includes built-in Play System patches.

Samsung phones run Android-based One UI, which excels in security and privacy. Despite open open-source nature of the OS, Galaxy devices offer top-notch security and keep user data and files protected through Samsung’s Knox solution.

Although Samsung didn’t reveal the reason behind disabling these updates, the resumption is likely in the Stable build. The company may have found it unnecessary to keep its Beta software connected with Play System FOTA servers.

Samsung introduced One UI 8 at its July 9 Unpacked event. The rollout will start on July 25 with new foldable phones, while older Galaxy devices will gradually receive the new features through the One UI 8 software update.

The Galaxy S25 series is running One UI 8 Beta in six countries around the world. The company has released three big Beta updates so far. We are expecting the fourth Beta to rollout next week, followed by Stable release by mid-August.

Samsung One UI 8.5

Samsung One UI 8.5

Samsung’s One UI 8.5 update may launch early next year with the new flagship phones. The company hasn’t officially confirmed the new version, but all signs point to a potential launch of Android 16-based One UI 8.5.

This post, updated today on July 18, will be kept updated with the latest content when a credible and useful input appears.

Samsung is reportedly working on an Android 16-based One UI 8.5 version. This mid-cycle update is shaping up to be a game-changer, reportedly launching with the Galaxy S26 series and skipping the usual One UI 7.1 and 7.1.1 updates.

Samsung One UI 8.5

Let’s dive into everything we know so far—release timeline, devices that’ll get it, cool new features, and the hottest news straight from the rumor mill.

Release Date

Samsung’s keeping quiet on an official release date for One UI 8.5, but the rumor mill is churning. Based on leaks and rumors, I’m betting we will see it debut alongside the Galaxy S26 series in early 2026, probably in January or February.

For older Galaxy devices, the rollout might kick off a month or two later, maybe March 2026. Samsung’s been stepping up its update game lately as One UI 8 Beta is already rolling out to devices like the Galaxy S25 series.

Eligible Devices

Since One UI 8, also based on Android 16, is set to hit foldables like the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 in summer 2025, One UI 8.5 feels like a refined follow-up. I’m excited to see how fast Samsung pushes this one out!

Here’s a projected list of devices expected to receive One UI 8.5, based on current leaks and Samsung’s update commitments:

Galaxy S Series:

  • Galaxy S25, S25+, S25 Ultra, S25 Edge, S24, S24+, S24 Ultra, S24 FE, S23, S23+, S23 Ultra, S23 FE, S22, S22+, S22 Ultra, S21 FE, S22, S22+, S22 Ultra

Galaxy Z Series:

  • Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7, Z Fold 6, Z Flip 6, Z Fold 5, Z Flip 5, Z Fold 4, Z Flip 4

Galaxy Tab Series:

  • Galaxy Tab S10 Plus, Tab S10 Ultra, Tab S9, Tab S9+, Tab S9 Ultra.

Galaxy A Series:

  • Galaxy A56, A55, A36, A35, and plenty of other Galaxy A phones.

Features

Here’s what’s floating around in the rumor mill:

Design language:

After the July Unpacked, Samsung’s Yang stated that Samsung will “continue to align the GUI (Graphic User Interface) with the underlying style of the product for future releases, too.” Although Yang’s statement didn’t mention One UI 8.5 or the Galaxy S26 series, design deployment is indeed planned for these two upcoming products.

Galaxy AI:

One UI 8 is bringing AI goodies, and One UI 8.5 might take it up a notch, especially for the S26 series with its modern Exynos and Snapdragon chips. I’m hoping for smarter photo editing and AI-powered functionalities so iPhones may feel outdated.

Customization:

Android 16 is all about flexibility wth Material 3 Expressive, and Samsung might lean into that with new lock screen widgets, slicker themes, or better ways to tweak your home screen. I’m hungry for personalization features, so this one has got me excited.

Smoother Vibes:

One UI 8 already feels snappy even in Beta, with smoother animations. Early Geekbench scores for Galaxy devices running One UI 8 are promising, and One UI 8.5 could make your phone feel like new; fingers crossed for zero lag!

Foldable-optimized UI:

With the Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 launching on One UI 8, I’m betting the One UI 8.5 will fine-tune multitasking for foldables. An earlier leak mentioned a bigger cover display on the Z Flip 7, so maybe we will see UI tweaks to make it shine.

Security Boosts:

Google’s Android 16 update has got cool stuff like post-theft lockdown, and Samsung is likely to double down with its own Knox-powered features. Privacy is a big deal, and I’m curious to see what the Galaxy maker adds here.
