Now, users of this smartphone can enjoy the new features and improvements over the previous UI. Some highlighted features of this major update are a vertical scrolling app drawer, Now Bar, redesigned icons, better widget customization options, larger home screen folders, and a new user interface.

Samsung has started testing the new One UI 8 Watch update on the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic. This gives a strong hint that the major software update based on Wear OS 6 is getting closer to launch for the Galaxy Watch.

Just recently, a reliable tipster @Alfaurk spotted the first One UI 8 Watch build for Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Classic on the testing server. The testing is underway with the build R960XXU1CYF6 on the Classic watch.

This internal testing shows that Samsung is regularly working to make One UI 8 Watch Beta available for eligible Galaxy devices. This beta update will let Galaxy Watch users try out new features ahead of the official release.

One UI 8 Watch will be based on Wear OS 6. Google recently announced Wear OS 6, and it’s expected to roll out to supported smartwatches later this year. The update will bring a fresh design, smoother animations, and better performance.

Notably, Samsung is expected to include its improvements and changes to make One UI 8 Watch feel more in line with the look and features of Galaxy phones. It is expected to bring new features and changes, including better battery-saving options, a new user interface, an antioxidant tracker, new watch faces, and more.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 and Galaxy Watch 8 Classic will reportedly launch with stable One UI 8 Watch. It could be the first Watch series to get Wear OS 6. This series is expected to launch in July 2025 at the Galaxy Unpacked event.

Samsung recently released the One UI 8 Beta 2 update for the Galaxy S25 series. This beta update expanded the Beta Program to more countries, including India and Poland. However, a useful feature, Predictive Back Gesture, has reportedly been removed with the One UI 8 Beta 2, but the company might bring it back in the next beta update, Beta 3.

The predictive back gesture (Back Swipe Preview)shows a preview of the previous screen when you swipe from the edge to go back. This makes it easier to navigate the phone. In the Beta 2 update (build ZYF3), this feature is no longer available.

But there’s some good news. Samsung is now internally testing a new One UI 8 build, ZYF5, for the Galaxy S25 series. A well-known tipster, @Gerwin Van Giessen, has spotted the Back Swipe Preview feature in it. This means that the One UI 8 Beta 3 update could bring back the Predictive Back Gesture.

In the new version, this option is found under the Labs section inside Advanced features. Labs is where Samsung lets users try experimental features. The Back Swipe Preview setting now appears below the option for Dark Mode apps. When turned on, it shows a preview of the screen you’ll go back to when you start swiping from the edge.

Notably, in One UI 7, the Back Swipe Preview feature was only available in Google apps. It did not work in Samsung’s system apps or third-party apps. However, previous reports suggest that Samsung might extend support for this helpful feature to more apps in the future.

After its removal in Beta 2, Samsung might bring it back in the Beta 3 update. With the return of the feature, it is expected that Samsung will release an enhanced version of this feature with broader app support in the stable release.

Currently, we can just take this information with a pinch of salt as Samsung hasn’t confirmed it officially. For now, we’ll have to wait for the next update or an official announcement from Samsung.
