One UI 8 won’t overhaul your phone, but it’s nailing lock screen widgets

In the latest One UI 8 Beta test firmware, lock screen widgets have grown noticeably bigger than in One UI 7. This tweak, spotted on the Galaxy S25 Ultra, makes widgets easier to read and tap, enhancing daily use without cluttering the screen.
Samsung’s One UI 8 doesn’t chase flashy overhauls, and that’s a smart move; instead, it refines what matters, like lock screen widgets. On the S25 Ultra, these widgets are now larger, making your phone feel more intuitive, via SamMobile.
Bigger widgets mean quicker access to info like weather or schedules. This focus on small improvements shows Samsung’s confidence in One UI’s core. Unlike competitors chasing radical redesigns, Samsung polishes what works.
Samsung kept the limit at four widgets, which strikes a balance. However, no new widget types have surfaced yet, which is a slight letdown for Galaxy fans. Since One UI 8 is still in development, Samsung has time to add these before the final release.

Samsung’s strategy with One UI 8 proves small changes can outshine big promises. Larger lock screen widgets make your phone more glanceable and efficient. If Samsung keeps listening to users, One UI 8 could quietly steal the show.
The Android 16-based One UI 8 Beta is rumored to launch this month. However, there’s no concrete evidence or developments for the same. Samsung hasn’t announced its plans on Beta but promised Android 16 is coming this Summer.
Previous One UI 8 leaks revealed that the new OS adds an elegant blur effect to pop-up menus. The update will focus on expanding Galaxy AI features like Now Brief to older models, with system apps will receive a design refresh.

Samsung testing improved Camera app for Galaxy S25 series

Samsung is actively testing the beta version of its latest software on the Galaxy S25 series, which indicates that a stable update is just around the corner. New information reveals that Samsung is working to improve the Camera app with the upcoming stable One UI 8 update for the Galaxy S25 lineup.
According to a tipster, Tarunvats, Samsung will enhance the Camera app with the stable One UI 8 update on the Galaxy S25 series. The tipster has reportedly managed to get the stable One UI 8 build, BYG3, on the Galaxy S25 devices.
In this build version, the Samsung Camera app has been upgraded to version 16.0.00.40 from 16.0.00.37 on the Galaxy S25 series. This new update comes with the optimization of the Camera app’s opening and closing animations. It is offering a smoother and more fluid user experience.

This means the company is testing an improved Camera app for the Galaxy S25 series, which will release with a stable One UI 8 update. As the build has been spotted on the testing platform, we can expect more improvements with a stable update.
Samsung has not yet revealed when the One UI 8 update will be available to older devices after stable release with the latest Galaxy foldable phones. But it is expected that the company will release it for the Galaxy S25 series soon.
When the update comes, Galaxy S25 owners can expect a better experience with their Camera app. It will open and close faster with smoother animations. The stable update will not only improve the Camera app but also make the phone work better overall.
Keep an eye out for the update if you own a Galaxy S25, as it will bring several helpful improvements soon.

Samsung enhances accessibility with real-time Call Captions in One UI 8

Samsung recently launched its new Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7, and Z Flip 7 FE. These phones come with Samsung’s latest software, One UI 8, which is based on Android 16. Along with the new phones, Samsung also introduced some helpful new features with One UI 8, one of which is Call Captions.
Call Captions is a new feature that shows what people are saying during a phone call, in real time. This means while you’re on a call, the phone can display the conversation as text on your screen.
Samsung already had a feature called Call Transcript in One UI 7, but it only worked after the call ended. The new Call Captions feature works live, so you don’t have to wait. It’s especially useful for people who have hearing problems or if you’re in a loud place where it’s hard to hear the other person.
Notably, the Call Captions feature only works with Samsung’s Phone app, not the Google Phone app. So, you’ll need to use Samsung’s dialer to get this feature. The captions also support many different languages, just like Samsung’s live translation tool.

Right now, this feature is only available on the newest foldable phones. But Samsung has confirmed that the company will bring Call Captions to more phones later, after it finishes testing One UI 8 on other models.
This means that more Galaxy device users will be able to enjoy this amazing feature with the One UI 8 update. Currently, the Galaxy S25 series users are testing a new feature through a beta update, and the company is expected to release the update soon. However, the One UI 8 rollout plan hasn’t been revealed by Samsung, but it is expected soon.

Samsung One UI 8 eligibility unconfirmed, but here’s all supported Galaxy devices for Software Updates as of July 2025

Samsung has one of the best software update policies. I consider it better than Google’s Android OS. I have a solid reason to call it the best. In early 2024, the company extended its software update support for Samsung Galaxy devices by up to 7 years.
This comprehensive support includes monthly, quarterly, and biannual firmware security updates that add patches for Android OS-related security issues released by Google, as well as patches for Samsung-specific security vulnerabilities.
This year’s Android 16 arrives early. Samsung officially launched One UI 8 based on Android 16 at Galaxy Unpacked on July 9, 2025, a significant shift in the company’s update timeline. For the first time, Samsung is releasing a major One UI OS update in the summer, rather than in the fall, aligning closely with Google’s Android 16 release schedule.
At the launch event, Samsung didn’t reveal which devices are eligible for the One UI 8 upgrade. I am covering every Samsung Galaxy device eligible for regular software support as of July 2025. One UI 8: What’s not guaranteed
While Samsung has officially launched One UI 8, the company has not announced which existing devices will receive the Android 16 update. The current security update list does not guarantee One UI 8 eligibility.
Key Considerations:
- Devices must meet hardware requirements for Android 16
- Samsung’s internal testing determines final compatibility
- Regional availability may vary
- Carrier approval affects rollout timing
Likely Candidates Based on Support Policy:
- All devices with 7-year support (S24 series and newer)
- Most devices with 4-year support are still within their update window
- Select A-series devices (A55, A56, and newer models)
Recommendations:
- Check Your Device’s Status: Verify your model against the support lists above
- Join Beta Programs: Galaxy S25 users can participate in One UI 8 beta testing
- Backup Before Updates: Always ensure data safety before major OS upgrades
- Be Patient: Staggered rollouts prevent widespread issues and ensure stability
- Monitor Samsung Members App: Official updates and beta invitations come through this channel

Samsung Galaxy S23 FE getting ready for major One UI 8 upgrade

Samsung’s One UI 8 stable update has been introduced with the Galaxy Z Flip 7, Galaxy Z Fold 7, and Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE smartphones. It is now expected that the company will soon begin rolling out this update to older Galaxy devices. Ahead of that, Samsung has started preparing the Galaxy S23 FE for the One UI 8 update.
A reliable tipster has spotted the first testing build of One UI 8 for the Galaxy S23 FE. The build number is S711BXXU9FYG2, indicating that Samsung has begun working on the update for this model.
Currently, the European variant of the Galaxy S23 FE is being tested with this new software. While it’s still in the testing phase, the appearance of this build suggests that the update could arrive soon.

Besides the S23 FE, Samsung is also testing One UI 8 on many other Galaxy devices. These include the Galaxy S24 series, S23 series, Z Flip 6, Z Fold 6, and mid-range phones like the Galaxy A56 and A36.
Even though the stable version has been released with the newest foldables, Samsung hasn’t shared a full update schedule for other devices yet. Right now, only users of the Galaxy S25 series can try the One UI 8 beta features, and that too only in limited countries.
One UI 8 update will bring new features, better performance, and design improvements compared to the previous version. Users can look forward to a smoother and smarter experience once the update is released for their phones. Stay tuned.

Confirmed: Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 getting surprise revival with One UI 8 Watch

At Unpacked, Samsung officially confirmed the One UI 8 Watch 4/Classic upgrade. That said, the Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic are now confirmed to be getting the Wear OS 6-based One UI 8 Watch upgrade this year.
On June 30, Samsung kicked off the One UI 8 Watch Beta Program. The company mentioned that the Watch 5 and later models are eligible. It sparked a debate that Samsung has dropped the Watch 4 series from Wear OS 6 eligibility.
Well, the official confirmation at Unpacked has cleared all the doubts.
Wear OS 6 plus One UI 8 Watch
Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic are the first Samsung smartwatches that launch with Wear OS. While the software support is about to end this August, Samsung is still bringing a big free upgrade, marking the 4th OS release.
Wear OS 6 will come to the Watch 4 series as its fourth major update. This new OS arrives on Samsung smartwatches as part of One UI 8 Watch. The development hasn’t yet begun, so a specific timeline is tough to predict.
Samsung’s new One UI 8 Watch succeeds the One UI 6 Watch version. The company has entirely skipped v7 to match the Galaxy Watch and One UI Watch numbering. Like One UI 7 for Mobile, One UI 8 Watch brings big visual revamps.
The new design and tiles are being hated by many. Samsung is likely to make some visual changes during the Beta Program. Notably, the entire focus is shifted to offering streamlined user experiences to Galaxy Watch owners.
Meanwhile, your Galaxy Watch is also getting a big AI upgrade. Google started rolling out the Gemini AI assistant to Wear OS watches running Wear OS 4+. Samsung’s entire Wear OS smartwatch lineup is eligible for this AI upgrade.
