Samsung’s One UI 7 reminds you to stop using your phone while walking

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra One UI 7 Now Brief

Samsung has added a new feature to Now Brief in One UI 7 that helps you stay safe while walking. Now Brief gives you daily updates like weather, news, calendar events, missed calls, and more. Now, it also reminds you not to look at your phone while walking.

Many people use their phones while walking, which can be dangerous. You might bump into someone, trip, or not notice cars or bikes. To help with this, Samsung’s Now Brief shows a message asking you to stop using your phone while you walk. It also tells you how much time you spent doing this during the past week.

This is similar to Google’s Heads Up feature, launched in 2021, which sends a notification when it sees you’re walking and looking at your phone. Samsung’s version doesn’t send real-time alerts but shows the reminder in your daily summary. It’s a simple approach, but still useful.

The feature was first introduced with the Galaxy S25 series. It’s a small but helpful step toward safer phone use. Samsung wants people to stay aware of their surroundings and avoid accidents.

Even though it’s just a simple message, it could help a lot. Looking up while walking is better for your safety, and it helps you enjoy your day more. This new reminder feature of the Now Brief in the One UI 7 is a small push to help you build better habits.

One UI 8.0 made camera controls faster with swipe gesture

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra Camera

Samsung’s camera app has gone through an overhaul in One UI 7.0, and its minimalistic design has gained praise from users, but One UI 8.0 has added a swipe gesture to increase its interactivity.

The existing camera app has reduced all of the distractions from the viewport, allowing users to focus on the subject to take high-quality pictures. To achieve this task, the top menu bar has been decluttered and its options have been shifted to the bottom side.

To ensure that these options don’t grab massive space as before, Samsung has put the reorganized items inside a fly-out menu located on the right of the zoom levels.

Once opened, the animation reveals: Settings, flash, timer, camera ratio, resolution, motion photo, exposure, filters, and face. To make the process convenient, there’s a button inside the fly-out menu to retract the option list, or you can simply tap on the camera view to do the same.

One UI 8.0 has an additional swipe gesture that could make accessing controls quicker than ever. As for now, the camera app supports swipe gestures in two directions.

The horizontal swipe switches camera modes, and the vertical swipe jumps between front/rear cameras. Now, you can reassign the vertical swipe to quick controls. By default, the vertical swipe is assigned to camera switch, but you can change it to camera controls via Settings and “Swipe preview up/down to”, select “Open Quick controls”.

Now you can launch a swipe gesture on the camera view to unfold the controls. If you don’t want a vertical gesture, simply select “Off” from the menu to only operate with horizontal gesture.

This new swipe gesture access for camera control in One UI 8.0 will improve the user experience, but the usual way of closing and opening the additional settings is not a stretch either.

Samsung Galaxy A54 One UI 7 Beta Program

Samsung has been busy rolling out the One UI 7 update to more Galaxy smartphones while also testing the One UI 8 Beta. However, recent information has revealed that the One UI 7 update rollout has been paused for the Galaxy A34 device.

Last week, Samsung started rolling out the One UI 7 update for the Galaxy A34. This new version brought several improvements and features, including a hidden GPU tool that is useful for gamers. The update came with a build number ending in DYE7.

Now, new information suggests that Samsung has temporarily suspended the One UI 7 rollout for the Galaxy A34. This was noticed on Samsung’s testing server, where the DYE7 build was marked as a testing version instead of being listed as the latest official firmware. This change indicates that the company has pulled back the update for further review or testing.

So far, Samsung has not made any official announcement regarding the suspension. The exact reason is still unclear, but it’s possible that a bug or issue may have been discovered, which prompts the company to stop the update for now.

It is expected that Samsung will fix the issue and resume the One UI 7 rollout for the Galaxy A34 soon. Many users are still waiting for the update, and some are already testing it on their devices.

If you are a Galaxy A34 user and have been testing One UI 7, share your experience and issues that you are facing after this major update through comments on our social media platform. And stay tuned for more information on the One UI 7 rollout for Galaxy devices.

Samsung drops Galaxy Watch 4 series from One UI 8 Watch Beta Program

Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 official One UI 6 update

Samsung recently introduced the One UI 8 Watch Beta Program along with an eligible device list. The company has quietly removed the Galaxy Watch 4 series from its One UI 8 Watch Beta Program. This move suggests that the watch may not receive any major updates in the future.

The new beta program is based on Google’s Wear OS 6. But Samsung has confirmed that only users with the Galaxy Watch 5 or newer models can join this beta. That means the Galaxy Watch 4 series is left out.

Back in August 2021, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 was released, and it has had a good run with regular updates. However, Samsung usually gives about three years of software updates for its smartwatches. Since it’s now mid-2025, that three-year mark is almost here.

While Samsung hasn’t officially said updates are ending for the Galaxy Watch 4, this latest beta program hint is quite clear. It’s very likely the Galaxy Watch 4 won’t get the new features coming with One UI 8 Watch.

This doesn’t mean your Galaxy Watch 4 will stop working. It will still run fine and do everything it was made to do. But you probably won’t see any more big updates or new features.

Samsung had promised at least three years of updates back in 2021, but that promise mainly applied to older Tizen-based watches. For Wear OS models like the Watch 4, it looks like the same rule is being followed.

Even security updates may stop soon for the Galaxy Watch 4. For example, the Galaxy Watch 3 (from 2020) hasn’t had any updates since late 2023. But the watch will still work fine.

So, if you own a Galaxy Watch 4, you might think about upgrading, especially if you want the latest features and updates. You can check the latest Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra smartwatches. Aside from this, Samsung is going to unveil the new Galaxy Watch series, the Galaxy Watch 8, in July 2025.
