One UI 8

Google has recently announced a big Material 3 Expressive redesign, which will launch with Android 16 later this year. The new design will first be available on Pixel phones. This has led many to ask whether the same Material 3 Expressive redesign experience will be available on Samsung Galaxy phones with One UI 8?

So first, let’s talk about what Material 3 Expressive Redesign actually is. This redesign upgrades Android with fluid animations, enhanced haptics, and visual depth through blur effects. It introduces dynamic color themes, improved typography, and redesigned Quick Settings with resizable tiles and bold sliders. All changes aim to make Android more responsive, modern, and user-friendly.

Now, if you have a Samsung phone, you might wonder if you’ll get this new design. The answer is that it will not be fully available on Galaxy devices with One UI 8.

Android 16 Material 3 Expressive

Samsung uses its own custom skin, One UI, based on top of Android. With the upcoming One UI 8, based on Android 16, Samsung won’t fully switch to the new Material 3 Expressive design. However, you’ll start seeing some of the changes through Google apps.

Apps like Google Keep, Google Photos, and Gemini will begin to look more like the new Material design. These updates will come gradually as Google updates its apps on your phone.

Samsung devices won’t have the full Material 3 Expressive redesign like Pixel phones with One UI 8. It will only start appearing on Google apps over time.

One UI 8 (Android 16) may add built-in Trade-in mode for faster processing

Samsung Smart Switch 3.57.59.1 update

Samsung is getting ready to release an Android 16-based stable One UI 8, which could include a really useful new feature, Trade-in Mode. This feature is designed to make it quicker and easier to trade in your old phone when you’re ready for an upgrade.

Usually, when you trade in a phone, technicians have to go through the full setup process before they can test the device. This takes time. But with Trade-in Mode, they can skip the setup and go directly to checking the phone. This means you can get your store credit or refund faster.

Trade-in Mode also has a built-in security feature. When the mode is turned on, the phone will automatically do a factory reset the next time it restarts. This factory reset erases all your personal data to make sure your information stays safe and private.

 Android 16 Trade-in mode

Even though this won’t change how your phone works every day, it’s a smart addition for when you’re ready to switch to a new device. And if you’ve ever had to wait too long during a trade-in, you’ll probably appreciate this time-saving feature

Currently, the trade-in mode is spotted on Android 16 by @Mishaal Rahman, and it is currently under development. There’s a possibility that Samsung might add it to Galaxy devices with a stable One UI 8 update.

Samsung allows Galaxy S25 series users to test One UI 8 features ahead of the stable release with the One UI Beta Program. The company will debut stable One UI 8 with the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Fold 7 smartphones, probably next month. Stay tuned for more information.

Samsung One UI 8

It’s June 12, a big day for the Samsung Galaxy S25 series, as the One UI 8 Beta 2 update started rolling out. The software brings plenty of bug fixes and improvements, as well as adds a new feedback feature to Interpreter functionality.

One UI 8 Beta 2 update is now available for Galaxy S25 users in the US, UK, Germany, and South Korea. The update was initially dropped in South Korea, but Samsung’s quick expansion covered the rest three markets within an hour.

As expected, Samsung has also launched the One UI Beta Program in India and Poland. Both markets were excluded from the first wave last month. Since then, users have been eagerly waiting for the Beta 2 update’s rollout.

This release also marks the opening of more One UI 8 Beta slots. If you have missed joining the Program in the first wave, you can now proceed with registration. Act fast, as the slots would fill up fast, and you may miss the opportunity again.

Beta 2 brings more “slots”

To join the Beta Program, update the Samsung Members to the latest version. Get your Samsung Account signed in on your Galaxy device and open the Members app. Scroll down to the bottom and tap on the Beta Program banner.

Here, the simplified process now requires a single time consent to the Beta terms and conditions. The process would be seamless when Samsung drops the One UI 8 Watch Beta and App Beta for qualifying applications.

Once the enrollment is done, move to the Settings and check for Software updates. A new OTA should arrive in a few minutes of joining the Beta Program. Backup your data before starting the Beta download to avoid potential data loss.
