New One UI Home update out for Galaxy S23 amid Samsung’s secret Android 16 (One UI 8) testing

Samsung has reportedly started testing the Android 16-based One UI 8 build on the Galaxy S23 series. At the same time, Samsung has released a new update for the One UI Home app on the Galaxy S23 series, aiming to make your home screen experience more stable and smooth.
The new update for the One UI Home app arrives with version 16.0.07.3. This update has currently been spotted for the Galaxy S23 Ultra smartphone, and it’s expected to reach other Galaxy devices soon.
This update improves the app’s performance by fixing bugs and making it more stable. If you’ve been experiencing any issues with the home screen, this update should make things run faster and smoother.
Samsung hasn’t shared exactly what bugs have been fixed, but users will likely notice a difference in performance after the update. The app is now more stable and responsive than before.
If you want to update the One UI Home app on your Galaxy S23 smartphone, you can do it through the Galaxy Store. Just go to the Menu, then tap Updates to check for the new version.
Sometimes the update installs automatically in the background, so you might not need to do anything. If you want to check the update manually, go to Settings, then Home screen, scroll down, and tap on About Home to see the latest version number.

WhatsApp bringing secure AI tool to summarize messages

WhatsApp has added a new AI feature in its latest beta update for Android with beta version 2.25.18.18. The new tool uses AI to create short summaries of unread messages on WhatsApp to make it easier for users to stay updated in busy chats and group conversations.
The AI-based Message Summaries feature helps users quickly understand what they missed without having to scroll through all the messages on WhatsApp. When many unread messages appear in a chat, a new button shows up. Tapping this button gives a short, private summary of the messages.
It works in both personal chats and group chats. The summary is created by Meta AI, but it is made using a special system known as Private Processing. This means the message data is not stored, shared, or read by WhatsApp or Meta. Everything happens securely on your device, and your messages stay private.
The feature is optional. You can turn it on or off in WhatsApp settings under Private Processing. Also, if Advanced Chat Privacy is turned on in a chat, the summary feature will be disabled for better privacy.
This feature is currently rolling out to some beta testers who use the WhatsApp beta app on Android. More users will get access in the coming weeks through future updates on the Google Play Store.

Samsung revamps One Hand Operation + in One UI 8 with Smart Gestures, Custom Handles

Samsung drops a new One Hand Operation + plugin update for the Galaxy S25 series running One UI 8. The new release adds two handy new features, aimed at simplifying in-app controls and even smarter gestures.
The new One Hand Operation + update is currently available for Galaxy S25 phones running One UI 8, as spotted by Theordysm. Samsung seems to be testing new app features apart from the One UI software on Galaxy devices.
Custom Handles
Good Lock’s One Hand Operation + has added dedicated in-app buttons for easier handle customization. Now, you get separate buttons for “Add Handles” and “Delete Handles” – both aimed at making tweaks easier than ever.
This move aligns with a previous Good Lock update, which categorized plugins according to their respective functionality. Now with Add and Delete buttons, it’s easier to set and control custom handles on your Galaxy devices.
Smart Gestures
System back gesture is a newly added toggle within Samsung’s new One Hand Operation + app version. When enabled, the plugin will allow you to use the system back navigation gesture outside the handle area.
This addition hints at a harmonious experience with OS-gestures and plugin gestures. One UI 8 focuses on refining the entire functionality, and apps are getting updated in a similar direction, giving us a glimpse of compelling experiences.

Note that sideloading the APK could activate some upcoming features on One UI 7 devices too. As the testing is still underway on a Beta software, you may face common issues like crashing or unusual interruptions while using it.
Samsung is swiftly working in multiple directions before unveiling the One UI 8 next month. Just a few hours back, Google released the Stable Android 16 update and teased some new features that will land on Galaxies with One UI 8.

iOS 26 vs One UI 7: Who nailed the Camera app redesign?

It’s 2025, and Apple and Samsung have shaken things up with fresh updates to stock camera apps in iOS 26 and One UI 7/8. Let’s dive in and see which one might catch your eye.
The iOS 26 Camera app brings a fresh look with more screen space for previews. Translucent menus pop out, letting users swipe through options like photo or video modes easily. This design, unveiled at WWDC25, maintains a clean and intuitive interface.
Samsung’s One UI 7 and 8 take a different approach by organizing settings into a convenient folder alongside the controls. Announced back in Q2 2025, this tweak clears the clutter and makes tools quick to grab, improving the whole vibe.
Both updates focus on usability, but they cater to different preferences. iOS 26’s minimalist approach suits those who love simplicity, while One UI 7’s customizable layout appeals to power users who want more control.

With iOS 26, you get cool features like separate menus for photos and videos, borrowing a trick from visionOS. It’s a smooth switch between modes, which is great for casual snappers who just want a hassle-free experience.
On the other hand, One UI 7 adds pro tools like zebra patterns and video editing options such as Auto Trim. These features target Galaxy fans who enjoy fine-tuning their shots and videos, offering a deeper level of customization.

For Apple fans, iOS 26’s camera redesign fits well within its ecosystem, offering a polished experience. Samsung users, however, might prefer the One UI 7 camera app’s flexibility, especially with its advanced editing tools.
These changes are all about making taking pictures and shooting videos more fun. Neither redesign is perfect for everyone. If you enjoy a simple, elegant interface, iOS 26 might be your pick. For those who love tweaking settings, One UI 7 could be the winner.

This hidden Now Brief feature may be Samsung’s smartest move yet

Samsung Health keeps evolving, and a new discovery in its latest app version has us excited. A hidden setting called Water Now Brief hints at future hydration tracking in the Samsung Health app, probably with One UI 8.
Hydration is key to health, yet many people forget to track it. Water Now Brief could make this easier by adding a water intake card to Now Brief. This would streamline monitoring alongside steps and active minutes.
Samsung is set to launch the Galaxy Watch 8 series with the new One UI 8 Watch OS next month. The Samsung Health app’s new Water Now Brief feature might be enabled in the One UI 8 for Mobile and One UI 8 Watch for Wearable.
The feature is indeed under development and will be rolled out to users once the testing is done. With new feature additions, Samsung is reiterating its commitment to fostering health tracking and elevated user experiences on Galaxy devices.
Water Now Brief
The Now Brief is Samsung Health app’s handy dashboard for stats like steps and calories. Water Now Brief, tucked away in a secret settings menu, hints at adding water intake tracking. It’s not live yet, but it’s got us intrigued.
Right now, Water Now Brief isn’t working, maybe due to software versions. We will watch for further developments to see when it rolls out. This feature could make Samsung Health a go-to app for health-conscious users.

Adding hydration to Now Brief shows its focus on a unified health experience. By consolidating data into one interface, users get a clearer picture of their wellness. This move could set Samsung Health apart from competitors.
Based on the Now Brief function’s design, we expect a simple card showing glasses of water consumed. It would likely sync with the Samsung Health app’s hydration logs, offering a visual indicator for daily water intake goals.
WhatsApp Beta lets you show both your photo and Avatar on profile

WhatsApp is continuously working to add new features and improvements to help users express themselves better. In the latest Android beta update, version 2.25.18.14, WhatsApp is testing a fun new feature that lets you add an Avatar to your profile.
In earlier versions, users could replace their profile photo with an avatar. But now, WhatsApp is taking it a step further. With the new update, you can keep your real profile photo and add an avatar alongside it, similar to Instagram.
Once you go to the avatar settings, you’ll see a new option to add your avatar to your profile. You can select a background color and choose an animation to make your avatar more fun and personal. After that, your profile will show both your photo and your avatar.
When someone opens your chat info screen, they’ll see a cool coin flip animation. This animation switches between your profile photo and your animated avatar.
Moreover, you can also change or remove the avatar anytime. You’re in full control, and you can update the look, background, or pose whenever you want.
This avatar feature is currently available to some beta testers who install the latest WhatsApp beta for Android from the Google Play Store. WhatsApp plans to roll it out to more users over the coming weeks.
