As Samsung One UI 8 Beta remains unconfirmed, we know who gets it first
Hey, Sammy Fans! The talk about One UI 8 is heating up, and even though we don’t have an official release date for the beta yet, the leaks are giving us some important details. If you are excited about what is coming with Samsung’s next big software update, let’s dive into what we know so far, including who’s likely to get the One UI 8 beta first.
Over the past few weeks, One UI 8 has been making a presence online. These leaks have given us a sneak peek into what Samsung’s cooking up for its Android 16-based software. From new animations to revamped designs, the discussion is real, and it’s got Galaxy users hyped. Here are some of the key leaks that stand out:
- Smoother Animations: A leaked video showed One UI 8 running on a Galaxy S25 Ultra, revealing slicker transitions
- New Blur Effects: Samsung’s adding fancy glass-like transparent backgrounds to menus and apps.
- Redesigned DeX and Audio Controls: Early builds spotted on the Galaxy S25 Ultra hint at a refreshed Samsung DeX experience and better audio controls, making multitasking and media playback smoother.
- Now Brief Expansion: Originally exclusive to the Galaxy S25, the AI-powered Now Brief feature might roll out to other devices like the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Flip6 with One UI 8.
These leaks show Samsung is focusing on small but meaningful upgrades, building on the foundation of One UI 7.
Who gets the One UI 8 Beta first?
Even without an official announcement, the leaks and Samsung’s track record give us a clear idea of who is first in line for the One UI 8 beta program. The Galaxy S25 series—including the S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra—is set to lead the pack. Why? Samsung always prioritizes its latest flagship phones for beta programs, and the S25 series, launched in January 2025, is top of the list. Leaked beta builds have already been spotted on the S25 Ultra, confirming it’s in active testing.
The Galaxy S25 series will likely get the beta as soon as it kicks off, which could be as early as May or June 2025, based on recent reports. Some sources even suggest a possible May launch for the beta program, with a stable release expected by July or August 2025.0
What about other devices?
Samsung typically expands its beta programs in phases, and history tells us the Galaxy Z Fold6, Z Flip6, and Galaxy S24 series are strong candidates for the second phase of One UI 8 beta testing. Looking back, the One UI 7 beta started with the Galaxy S24 series in December 2024 and later rolled out to the Fold6, Flip6, and S23 series. We expect a similar pattern with the One UI 8 beta program.
- Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6: These foldables are already running internal One UI 8 test builds, so these devices are first in line for the second beta wave, likely a few weeks after the S25 series.
- Galaxy S24 Series: As last year’s flagships, the S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra will probably join the beta in the second phase.
- Mid-range devices like the Galaxy A55 might get the beta later, but Samsung usually saves those for the final stages or skips them entirely for early testing.
Samsung One UI 8 is shaping up to be a polished update, and the leaks show Samsung’s paying attention to the little details that make a big difference. Today, Huawei introduced its first foldable screen laptop with its HarmonyOS operating system. After bringing the first Tri-Fold to the market, Huawei has just brought a foldable screen laptop, aiming at Samsung’s weakness.
Huawei’s advancements in tri-fold devices, like the Mate XT Ultimate Design, highlight its innovative approach. At the same time, global tech titans such as Samsung are facing challenges in keeping up with the pace of innovation.
Reliable Hinge
Huawei’s foldable screen laptop features the world’s largest hinge, measuring 285mm. This hinge uses a three-stage shaft design for smooth opening and closing, offering stability at angles as low as 0–20 degrees and maintaining it from 30–150 degrees.

The MateBook Fold Ultimate Design features an 18-inch dual-layer OLED display, delivering a stunning 3.3K resolution. When folded, it offers a 3:2 aspect ratio for a tablet-like experience, and when fully unfolded, it maintains a 3:2 ratio for a spacious workspace.
Huawei claims this is the first laptop to use LTPO tech, which adjusts the refresh rate dynamically to save power while ensuring smooth visuals. The display also supports the P3 wide color gamut and HDR Vivid for rich, accurate colors.
The company uses three carbon fiber support layers, which reportedly boost impact resistance by three times compared to standard displays. At just 7.3mm thick when unfolded and weighing 1.16kg, the MateBook Fold is remarkably portable for its size.

Huawei is shipping its in-house HarmonyOS 5 with the foldable screen laptop. It’s a challenge to Microsoft as well, which dominates the PC OS market with its popular Windows operating system along with Apple’s macOS.

The MateBook Fold Ultimate Design is available in two configurations:

Samsung gets another challenge from Huawei
The Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 have received a mild response due to incremental updates over their predecessors. Samsung’s foldable market share has been challenged by Huawei’s technological innovations, particularly with the Mate XT.
Samsung is reportedly working on a tri-fold phone, slated for release by the end of the year. It could introduce a G-shaped inward-folding mechanism with a giant 10-inch display, competing directly with Huawei’s Tri-Fold device.
The company’s prototypes, like the Flex G and Flex S, have shown promise, but none have reached the market yet. That said, Samsung is taking a cautious approach for the G Fold, planning to produce only 200,000–300,000 units initially.

Samsung has released a new update for its QuickStar Good Lock module, which fixes the clock bug. The update comes with version number 8.1.02.24 on Galaxy devices, bringing important fixes and improvements for users running One UI 7.
The fresh update of Samsung QuickStar fixes the clock position bug. Some users on One UI 7 noticed that the clock on the status bar was always stuck in the middle, even if their phone didn’t support a center option.
This issue was frustrating for people who like to customize their phone’s look. With this new update, Samsung has fixed the issue. Now, the clock will appear in the correct place according to the user’s chosen settings.
Along with this fix, Samsung has also improved the overall stability of the QuickStar module. This means the app should now run more smoothly, with fewer crashes or errors.

If you want to get the update, you can download it easily from the Galaxy Store. Just open the store, tap on the Menu button, and go to Updates. If the update is available for your device, it will show up there. You can also Good Lock app to install the update.

Samsung is getting ready to launch its next smartwatches – the Galaxy Watch 8 and Galaxy Watch 8 Classic. Right now, both the Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 models have just received 3C certification in China, which means they are one step closer to being released.
The 3C certification spotted by Xpertpick shows two model numbers, SM-L3350 and SM-L5050. These are believed to be for the Galaxy Watch 8 and Watch 8 Classic. These watches are expected to be announced in July 2025, likely alongside Samsung’s new foldable phones, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7.
Moreover, the listing confirms that both watches will support LTE, 10W charging, and may come with Samsung’s EP-T1510 travel charger. Although the 3C listing doesn’t give too many details, more information has already appeared in past leaks.

Earlier, the Galaxy Watch 8 series also appeared on the FCC certification website. According to that, both models will support LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.3, GPS, NFC, 10W wired charging, and wireless charging.
Like the current watch series, reports claim that both models will come in different sizes. Last year, Samsung released the Galaxy Watch 7 and Watch Ultra with its foldables in July, so a similar launch timeline is expected this year.
However, it is still unclear if Samsung will launch a new version of the Watch Ultra this year. This year, Samsung is bringing back the Classic model with the Galaxy Watch 8, which was removed in the Watch 7 series. Stay tuned for more information.
Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 appears on US FCC, charging speed revealed
Samsung has begun rolling out an Android 14-based May 2025 security update for the Galaxy A53 smartphone. The update is currently rolling out for users in Europe, and the company will soon make it available in more countries.
May 2025 security update for the Galaxy A53 smartphone arrives with version A536BXXSEEYD9, and users will have to download around 270 MB package to install the update. It is an initial rollout, so it may take some hours or days to reach all models.
The latest security patch fixes 58 high-level vulnerabilities to enhance Galaxy security. Samsung has tagged an additional 20 SVE items. These fixes elevate your Galaxy’s security status by addressing One UI-related flaws. The company has also specifically detailed 13 of those 20 SVE items for Galaxy users.
Aside from this, the update improves some functions to provide a better Galaxy experience. It makes your device more secure, reliable, and stable.
Notably, the update is based on Android 14, and users of the Samsung Galaxy A53 smartphone will soon get the Android 15-based One UI 7 update. It is expected that Samsung might roll out the major update in the coming week for this Galaxy A series phone.
Until then, you can install the latest security update on the Galaxy A53 smartphone to make it ready for future updates. For that, you just need to visit Settings, then click on the Download and install option in the Software Update section. If the update is available, follow the on-screen instructions to install it.
