One UI 7 DIY Home Up drops soon for Galaxy Z Fold, Flip and Tabs

Samsung is optimizing One UI 7 Home Up for Galaxy Z Fold, Z Flip, and Tab devices. The development team is working to rebuild and optimize the key features of the new Home Up plugin for phone-type devices.
One UI 7 Beta Program is available for the Galaxy Z Flip 6, Z Fold 6, and Tab S10 series. The testing activity is also live for the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S23 series flagships, while the Stable version is available on the Galaxy S25 series.
Galaxy Z Fold, Flip, and Tab device users still await the Home Up plugin’s One UI 7 features such as DIY Home and gesture customization. The progress has reached 30% mark and the official release is expected within a few weeks.
Home Up plans for Z Fold and Flip
For foldable devices like the Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip, the Home Up team is preparing a feature called “Cover Screen Mirroring” as part of the Home Up update.
As mentioned in the Good Lock app’s notice terrace article, this feature has sparked a lot of conversation within the development team about how to integrate DIY home customization into the mirrored display effectively.
It’s about ensuring the experience feels seamless and intuitive for users. Right now, the team is in the final stages of nailing down the development details, working through the technical bits to make sure everything lines up properly.
Home Up plans for Tab
When it comes to tablet devices, such as the Galaxy Tab S, the challenge is a bit different. The team needs to ensure DIY home functionality works smoothly in both landscape and portrait orientations, which is a bit difficult.
This requires some extra implementation effort on the development end to cover both modes without hiccups. Developers are putting in the time to get it right, and alongside this, the team is also addressing user-reported issues.
Home Up team aiming to release the update in late March or early April.

One UI 8 Apps available early, but it’s not all good news

Two Samsung apps targeting Android 16 are now available online. While Galaxy users wait for the One UI 7 update, the company is swiftly progressing the One UI 8 development. The listing of apps suggests things are going well ahead of the July debut.
Samsung Gallery and Weather apps from One UI 8 are available early, first spotted by ThatDev/X. It’s the first time we’re seeing the listing of app files on a famous third-party Android apps provider, and the list will expand further gradually.
One UI 8 brings revamped Gallery, Weather
The Gallery and Weather apps are getting massive interface changes in One UI 8. Leaked firmware revealed the company’s plans to revolutionize system applications to elevate the user experience with the next big upgrade.
One UI 8 will bring visible changes to the appearance of the Gallery app. The menu buttons will adopt global One UI shapes for a unified look. The Weather function will add sleek new animations, making it the biggest upgrade in years.

While the app files are available early, the installation failure is quite disappointing. I tried sideloading One UI 8 apps on One UI 7 so you don’t have to. The installation begins, but the process ends with a pop-up citing installation failure.
That said, the latest versions are compatible with One UI 8 only.
Samsung will launch Android 16-based One UI 8 with the Galaxy Z Flip7 and Z Fold7. The new foldable phones will likely launch in early July this year. We expect the One UI 8 Beta Program may go live in August or September this year.

One UI 7 Home Up missing on Galaxy Z Fold6, Flip6 and Tab S10 – There’s good news

If you’re using a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6, Flip6, or Tab S10, you might have noticed that the new One UI 7 Home Up module from Good Lock isn’t available yet.
Originally scheduled for early April, the Home Up module is yet to be rolled out for Galaxy Z Flip6, Z Fold6, and Tab S10 series running One UI 7. The good news? Samsung is close to releasing Home Up for these devices, expected in early next month.
One UI 7’s Home Up is popular for its DIY home screen options and personalized user experience. Until now, Home Up has been limited to the S series, but the demand for Home Up has grown as One UI 7 is now available on various devices.
Samsung’s team has been working to adapt Home Up for foldables and tablets.
For foldables like the Z Fold6 and Flip6, a feature called “Cover Screen Mirroring” is in development to customize the cover display. Tablets like the Tab S10 need support for both landscape and portrait modes, adding complexity.
Samsung initially aimed to release Home Up for foldables and tablets by early April 2025.
However, the current project reveals that it’s still under renewal, with a message saying it “will return soon.” The updated timeline points to early May 2025, as Samsung finalizes the module for One UI 7 compatibility.
With the new Home Up, you will be able to customize home screen layouts, tweak gestures, and use Cover Screen Mirroring on foldables. For tablets, expect a seamless experience in both orientations, enhancing multitasking and personalization.
